I am a professional business traveler (4 days a week, every week, 10 years). I prefer to stay at starwood properties and used points to stay at the anchorage AK Sheraton.
This hotel is in need of a major facelift. We stayed at the start and end of our trip (two separate stays). First stay was at a normal room. Hotel showers felt dated. Elevator was ancient. The club floor required a push button code system to get to rather than a card-reader at most sheratons. So upon arrival you're issued a room card, a club floor card that doesn't actually get you to the club floor, only through the door to the lounge (you use a code on the elevator).
Our second stay was on one of the club floors and the room was nicer, but can't compare to a more modern Sheraton brand hotel in say, Phoenix.
I've had better breakfasts at typical sheraton club lounges.
The staff is very friendly and does try to work with what they have. But it seems limitations of the building holds it back.
Not much within walking distance in the winter. (in the summer, the "downtown" is certainly walkable. not so in 10 degrees) But it's fairly accessable to most things.
