After reading the various reviews of this hotel, I had mixed feelings about making a reservation, but decided to take a chance.
Arriving later in the evening, the front desk clerk was courteous and accomodating, even welcomed us, saying she was awaiting our arrival. A nice feeling, after traveling many air miles to get to Anchorage.
The room was very presentable, spacious, with one comfy king bed, and a clean bathroom. Upon showering, I understood what previous comments about a low shower head referred to. Believe me, you have to bend over, in order to get water on your soapy hair! Otherwise, it was clean & well stocked.
The next day was when problems began. When we returned to our room, electronic key card refused entry. Maid said "cell phone demagnetized it", but I informed her, it was nowhere near a cell phone. Figuring a trip to the front desk would solve the problem, I was wrong! They also claim cell phone demagnetized the card. After TWO trips back to the front desk, and 4 Maintenance men, and 3 Hotel Maids later, it took a 40' ladder, to gain window entry to our room to unlock it from the inside. Obviously the night latch hadn't completely disengaged, showing the room "locked from the inside". This took more than an hour to resolve. Not a fun experience. I finally requested a chair from nearby room, and sat in hallway, waiting on resolution.
Breakfast in their Lion Den Restaurant was good. Wait staff friendly & accomodating.
Would I return? Yes, I believe I would. Strictly a maintenance problem. Frustrating, but finally resolved.
Go to "Lily's" restaurant on Tudor for an even better breakfast!
