We stayed one night at the Westmark hotel in Anchorage and completely enjoyed it. The hotel is located near the mall, great restuarants, pier, and major roads. The bedroom was spacious and well decorated. Bathroom was small with bedroom located sink and vanity. Outside noise filtered into the room but the thick blackout drapes kept the 22 hours of sunlight out. Try the mini-brewery across the street, for lunch or dinner you won't be disappointed. The breakfast in the hotel is great and espresso bar (takeout)superb.

The view was absolutely wonderful from the 14 floor towards the ocean. But the rooms were either to hot or to cold and they didn't have microwaves or fridges in the rooms and i had to find my own parking and pay for it. I would only stay there again for the view and the convenience of everything nearby.

We arrived at the hotel at 4am after 35 hours of travelling from Australia. The hotel was advised by our travel agent of our late arrival. We had also emailed the hotel to advise of this and also that the day of our arrival was our wedding anniversary.

The night clerk advised us our room had been given away and that the only king room available was the disabled room. Otherwise we could only have a twin bedded room.

It was 4am and we were tired and it was our anniversary so we took the room. It was terrible, 1 star at best. Didnt sleep a wink all night as was iover tired. The next morning we advised the desk clerk of this situation and requested to be moved to another room. We were shown a king bedded suite on the 7th floor which overlooked the water. The room was spacious and a 100% improvement on the disabled room. So we packed up our stuff and they moved us across to the other room.

The bed was comfortable and the day clerk staff were apologetic and helpful. We ate at the Glacier Brewhouse across the street, nice food, bad beer, too noisy for a romantic dinner and the waiters are rushed off there feet and dont really give any real service as there too busy.

Overall the location is excellent for the Westmark, the mall, great shops etc all ithin a few minutes walk.

Would stay here again if in Anchorage in the future. The room was not noisy and the furniture inthe upgraded room was pleasant.

We stayed here as part of a Gray Line/Holland America Land Tour. We stayed here 1 night at the beginning of the tour and 1 night at the end of the tour.

I did not think this hotel is up to Holland American standards (the hotel is owned by Holland America). I was very disappointed. If this is how Holland America ship-board cabins are, I will never cruise with them.

Bathroom and Vanity:
Small. Bathtub was fiberglass. Needs updating. Wooden closet doors.

Bed: Average. 1st night the head board had male secretion stains (if you know what I mean). At end of tour, comforter had male secretion stains.

Sitting area: No couch. Just two chairs that werent really comfortable.

TV: Weird angle not facing bed.

Cleanliness: Very clean except for the male secretion stains.

Carpet: Had stains. Not very exciting. But clean.

Noise: Transit center on south side is very noise. Request a room not facing that side.

Positives: close to great restaurants and shopping.
