“OK but average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014 via mobile

The Westmark is OK with fine service people. This was our first portion of a land/cruise of Alaska. The building appears renovated, but considerable aging was seen in our room. We utilized the bar at night and had a breakfast buffet in the morning. Food at the buffet was quite good and service in both places was quite good. When it comes to electronics, this hotel is lacking. The TV is old and, although you can connect to the wifi easily, we have seen faster speeds from a dial up. Very difficult to access anything on the internet. Beds were way too soft and the bathroom needed a thorough cleaning. The location is nice for exploring downtown, but overall we were not impressed.

This was are first overnight for our Alaska land and cruise with Holland America. We found the layout of the room to be very nice and the place was clean. The hotel does have some areas getting remodeled but our area was very nice. It still has an older TV but we never turned it on anyway. We had too much fun exploring Anchorage Downtown for the one day we would be there.

Room Tip: The room we had overlooked 6th St. and was across from the Glacier Brewing House restaurant and loun...

The room was clean, outdated TV, very small bathroom. Front desk staff is very nice, location is good, you can walk to some very good places to eat. But street noise is an issue, we were on the 5th floor and the cars and motorcycles outside sounded like they were in the room with us - and having just landed from a 7 hour flight from Atlanta, we just wanted to get a nice quiet room and sleep. This hotel was booked though the cruise company, I would have asked for another room but we were exhaused, front desk was crowded, we just gave up.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room, if they have one.

We spent two nights at this hotel at the start of our tour package. The staff was very helpful and our room was clean and very nice. The staff gave us information on things to do during our free time. These accommodations were excellent.

We experienced what could possibly be described as a misunderstanding relating to the availability of a shuttle service from the hotel to the airport. Given copies of our documentation, the issue was handled by the desk staff in a professional and pleasant manner, at no cost to us. They are to be commended on their excellent approach to public relations.

We recently started our Alaska vacation with a night at this facility and were disappointed. Although clean and adequate it was very dated and worn looking from the lobby to the rooms. This hotel is in serious need of refurbishing. In fairness we were told that a remodeling process has begun although we saw no evidence of that. It is well located in the heart of Anchorage and the service provided was good. We didn't eat in their little restaurant but it looked to be very nice and breakfast was available either as a sit down meal, buffet, or just coffee and a roll. This was the beginning of a Holland America land tour and did not give a good first impression, however the rest of the trip was wonderful.

The stay in this hotel was for just a day, on 30th June 2014. The rooms were neat and well equipped. We also received a copy of the tourist guide to Alaska, free copy for their customers. It was a good material. Close to trail and beach, it was a good stop over for us.

Room Tip: Any room facing the coastal line is good.
