“not worth it”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2012

this was not nearly as fun as we thought it would be. it was a waste of money.. the chairs barely shook at all. I thought it would be more of a fun, earthquake simulation type thing. but no, it was basically a boring documentary with someone shaking your chair for 10 seconds. the movie was very old. and better yet, the video and audio didn't even match-they were a good 3 seconds off. everybody loves that...

we also watched the 2nd movie, which was in a bigger theater. another boring documentary.. all the kids were wondering when it would ever be over. wouldn't even be worth it for $1.

“I had fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2012

Yes, it was corny and dated but once in awhile, people enjoy that kind of tacky, wholesome fun. Being a scientist myself, I found it extra humorous how corny it was. I'd do it again!

“Poor quality not worth the $.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2011

Is it worth paying $5.95 to rest yr feet? Use the free benches instead! The shaking, squeaking seats are rinky-dink and mask the narrative! Don't waste your time.

“Save your $$$”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2009

We managed to only lose $11 each since we qualified for a senior discount for both films. These films are out of date, out of focus, and the only thing we gained was about thirty minutes where we could rest our feet. They interviewed two people who told stories about their earthquake experience. The rest of information was given by a scientist with an accent that you could barely understand. Considering the quality of films available today, the Alaska Experience theater could really use an update.

“Earthquake film not worth the money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2009

There are two theatres at the Alaska Experience: a large one showing a film about wildlife and Alaska attractions, which we did not visit, and a small one showing a film about the quake. The quake film was not as informative as the one shown for free down the street at the Alaska Public Lands Information Center. The first part of the short film deals with earthquakes in general. The contraption that shakes the seats, supposedly to simulate an actual earthquake, was so loud it drownded out the narrative during the two occasions during the film that it was turned on. The wildlife film may be good, and the displays in the lobby (and outside, in the corridor-- which you can see for free) were very interesting, but the quake film itself was not worth the money.
