“Nice Vacation Start”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

This was our first dining stop at the start of a 9 day vacation. The reservation got screwed up (we reserved for 13 but it was recorded as 3). Even though it was busy, staff recovered nicely and we were made to feel welcome. Service was prompt, atmosphere was definitely brew pub and the beers, especially the ales are definitely worth trying. Menu was varied with a fair sampling of Alaskan fare.

It is a bit noisy and busy if that suits you.

“Waste of Time and Money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013 via mobile

This is the most over rated restaurant in Anchorage. The food is expensive and not that good. The waiters are unfriendly and unattentive. The wait time is long. And the beer isn't all that great. So all in all my experience of this restaurant that is suppose to be so good is not that favorable. There are other places in the area that have much better food and atmosphere so don't get pulled into the hype!

“Noisy, happening place in anchorage”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013 via mobile

I ha the rock fish and my wife had a fresh catch, which was a pepper rubbed halibut sautéed in pepper oil, not very spicy though, both fish were perfectly cooked. Starters were the wicked shrimp very nice, spicy sauce on a thin slice of bead, highly recommend if you like spicy food, and a citrus salad, which was also very tasty, beer was great, being a brewery. I had the rasberry wheat and the oatmeal stout, both of which were excellent. Service was very good, but was hard to get a solid recommendation, "everything is great" and for desert a bread pudding which was ok but would not recommend, have had better at other places.

“Alaska expectations met”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013 via mobile

The atmosphere, decor, service, flavors, and quality are all superb at this large, busy downtown Anchorage restaurant. Glacier Brewhouse offers their in-house beer varieties alongside flavorful and creative food inspired by Alaska's frontier spirit. From sitting shoulder to shoulder in the bustling restaurant under exposed wood beams around a giant stone fireplace to the smell of the alder-wood fired grill you cannot go wrong here.
There is a wide selection of grilled meats (though no game) and locally caught seafood (salmon, rockfish, halibut, crab). The offerings are accompanied by grilled or roasted vegetables over the same fire with a gourmet flourish of sauces and garnishings.
Our Alaska seafood chowder was flavorful and creamy. The salmon was perfectly grilled accompanied by grilled asparagus, roasted corn and a deep fried rice-crab cake. The chocolate torte with poached cherries and sweet cream was exquisite. Prices are high but not unreasonable for the quality o food an experience.
Recommend getting a reservation and then coming to see if tables are available in the seat yourself bar where the full menu is available to order. The service is just as good and you get a great view of the line cooks working the wood grill. The restaurant was slammed at 9 pm on a Sunday night - a good sign that Glacier Brewhouse can draw a crowd. I will certainly be back to try some of the other menu options. This is the dining experience you imagine when you come to Alaska.

“Quick bite works well”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

We got in late, 8:00 p.m. from the east coast and got to the restaurant at 9:00 for a quick bite before bed. We sat at a common table by the bar and immediately had a waiter show up and within minutes a craft IPA - excellent. We ordered a side salad and pizza and they came quickly and hit the spot. The pizza dough was tasty and it arrived hot with a good amount of melted cheese. Perfect for what we were looking for.
