We had read about this place being 'real Alaskan,' so thought we'd better give it a try on our last night in the state. Big mistake. How can an Alaskan restaurant not know how to prepare salmon? My wife had salmon dinner that was raw in the middle and burnt on the outside. My halibut was cooked to mush. Vegetables boiled to death. And the waitress had some sort of a personal issue going on or a mental problem--mumbling to herself, not paying attention when we were ordering. All in all the worst dinner we've had in years.

When we mentioned, politely, some of the problems, all we got were glares and our change slapped onto the table. I guess they don't expect ignorant tourists to return, so there's no reason to do any better.

After reading the reviews I just want to clarify one thing, just because your in Alaska doesn't mean everyone knows how to cook seafood. Some places just plain suck at it, which is the case with Gwennies. Actually Gwennies can't seem to get much of anything right.

The best pancakes, skip everything else

We loved this place, it had an Alaska feel to it! Wish we had time to go back. Great breakfast.
