“11th Avenue B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

I had need for a last minute booking and was steered to this B&B by the Anchorage B&B Association. The bed was the best (I'm very picky) and the breakfast - lots of fresh fruit, smoked salmon with eggs benedict and good coffee served by my hostess Marilyn and her college age son - was superb. The house looks small from the front but had been added to in the back with a large upper flower laden deck that allows you to see the mountains over the rooftops. There are many small amenities like a bath robe and snacks to go. The ambiance is elegant but Alaskan. I really enjoyed my short stay here.

Save big $$ and still have a better mattress than the one you have at home, spacious bedroom and bath with Aveda products, a fabulous breakfast every morning, paper, and free parking; all located downtown. Seriously.

Marilyn has lived here her entire life and is a great source of knowledge about history, local politics if you your curious about it, cultural offerings and restaurants around town.

There are only 2 bedrooms/2bathrooms in this particular house, so if the other one is not filled or you know the other couple, it's like you're renting a house. I felt very comfortable lounging in the living room, private patio filled with flowers and helping myself to he kitchen's "free zone" which included popcorn, gum, chocolate, biscotti, granola bars, apples, and freshly baked cookies some days.

Some of the breakfasts we were served included: reindeer sausage egg muffins (don't know it til you try it), salmon omelets with rosemary potatoes, smoked salmon eggs benedict, eggs &
bacon with blueberry buckle. OMG!!!

Miss your dog?? No problem, Woodrow the family Dachshund will be happy to cuddle on the couch or just provide the fur fix you need.

This place really made my trip so relaxing and tons of value given the prices I saw at other hotels.

Thanks for taking the time to write and share this review. It is really helpful to us to receive feedback. It was a great pleasure to meet you both and have you stay with us and we are very glad that you had a good experience. That is what we aim for. The challenge of not repeating a menu while you were here (since you were here for a number of days) was big fun and a good exercise for me. We look forward to your next visit. Until then, be well and travel safe! Marilyn
