We stayed at this hotel for two nights, in a lobby level room, and chose it because of it's proximity to the airport (just down the road). We usually stay at the Microtel in Eagle River, but decided this was closer to the airport and for the same price. Our room was ok except for the animal pee smell by the front door and bathroom, and the plumbing was leaking in the bathroom creating puddles on the bathroom floor. A great thing about this place is the thick walls and doors, making it almost impossible to hear your neighbors and the traffic in the hall. They also offer a pay per view movie service in room which I highly recommend if you want to see any movies currently in between the theatre and DVD. At first it wouldn't work but the front desk staff was very helpful in doing everything they could to correct the problem. All in all, I might stay here again, but only because of how close the airport is.

I stayed at Microtel in july for 3 days and at first I was little weary about staying in a moderatly priced hotel but i was pleasantly surprised.
The staff was very helpful and in this regard i would like to make mention of one person in particular. Her name is Claudia. She was very very helpful and kind. i was like a stranger in a new world and she guided me where to go and what to do in Anchorage.
The hotel room was always clean and the bathroom is very clean and nice. No problems with hot/cold water. The Rooms have AC/ refrigrator/cable tv and a small sitting room( i had a junior suite). They even have a small reclining place on top of the AC unit with a nice pillow so you can watch what's going on outsideThere are no noises in the corridor. The elavators work all the time. . Plenty of towels of all sizes. Great service. The area around the hotel is very safe.

The only downside was the laundry room which was so hot that you could'nt stay in it for more than 5 minutes. I guess they forgot to turn off heat in july.
Also in the spa some of the sprays were not working. Maybe they will fix these two after reading my review.( hopefully)
Also Make sure you get a car permit(free) from the front desk before leaving your car in the parking lot or it might get towed.

Overall, I would definetely stay at this hotel in another city or this city if i visit again.

Reasonable rates, near the airport, very clean and nicely appointed rooms, friendly helpful staff, and a quite adequate breakfast buffet. Even got to see two moose in the parking lot! Would definately stay there again.

This was by far the worst hotel I have ever been. It started with a gravel parking lot with potholes for the rain. The front desk people were not surly, but not helpful either. The room was not clean. We were forced to use a smoking room because of our small dog. I've stayed in smoking rooms before and am OK with it. But this room reeked so much that the smell stayed in our clothes. It was as if it had never been aired out or cleaned. We were booked for a week and stayed one night -- we left even though we didn't have anything else booked. We were that confident that anything else we found would be better.
