“OK, but not as good value as Microtels are usually”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2012

In the lower 48 Microtel is usually the best value among budget hotels. Alaska is more expensive but with rate double than the contiguous USA, this is not more than average-minus value. There is no working-chair in the room, a standard in Microtel – this was a bad surprise. WiFi is good to average. They have a SPA room with 2 Jacuzzis – this is better than usual in Microtel, but unfortunately no chairs or any basic accessories, and it worked only half of time, and was a bit too hot. Breakfast OK but space too small.
There was some noise from the combination of adjacent highway, railway and airport
All in all: Super 8 is probably a better value in Anchorage.

The front desk was very helpful upon arrival, giving us advice on the Anchorage Festival (a sort of farmer's market / street fair) and what to see.
The WiFi was good (and free.)
The business center was small, but printing was free and allowed us to print out our special luggage tags and boarding passes for the subsequent cruise.
Excellent. What could one want for an expensive and tidy stay?

It is very close to the airport. We spent a night here. The accomodation was clean and descent. The breakfast ( complimentary) was very good.

Front lobby stinks. Holes in carpet in the room. Other guests hair in bathroom. No soap, had to request it. Some stains on sheets. Just felt gross.

I stayed at the Microtel because I had my dog. He was welcome; however, I felt like I needed to lay my own clean blankets down on the beds before I would recline on them. There wasn't a table or chairs, refrigerator, alarm clock, or even a bath mat. There was a noticable pile of dirt collecting in the corners of the bathroom floor.ICK, I was planning a very short stay( plus I had my pooch) otherwise I would not have stayed.

Room Tip: Check the cleanliness before paying.

My family always stays at the Microtel when we are passing through Anchorage. It is close to the airport and has a shuttle, so it is perfect if you are flying. The rooms are always clean, the service is friendly, and the free breakfast has a nice variety. There is an exercise room and the pool is great for wearing out small travelers! The location is good if you have a car as it is out of the way and quiet; if you have no car and are staying a few days, there really is nothing close by, which is the only drawback to this great place. For Alaskans, they have a local's rate in the winter, and you can also park your car at no charge if you are going someplace warm!

Room Tip: I prefer the regular rooms, but the mini-suites have a couch and small kitchen area. They allow dog...

I stayed here for 1 night and it was an average room. It was very spacious and the bed was comfortable, but there were a few stains in the bathroom that I could have done without. Free parking was appreciated as well, would stay here again for a quick visit.
