“Right Next to Road”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

The marsh looks cool and definitely always has an abundance of birds, but it is right next to the Seward highway so it isn't quiet. The new boardwalk is nice, and it is great for a quick stop if you are driving the highway, but not so much for a solitary day birdwatching. I have seen people skate there in the winter, but have yet to go by myself.

“recommend it for anyone who likes wildlife”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

It's been a long time since I visited and they have expanded the walkway since then. I remember it being a nice long walkway with informational plaques and lots of different birds living there. When I drive past there I always see a variety of bird species.

“East to get to from Anchorage”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

It was raining when we went but did see plenty of birds. Even saw an Eagle taking a fish from the river. There were also salmon in the river getting ready to spawn. This is very close to the highway distracting from the overall experience. You have to be patient here - it is not the zoo - and bring some binoculars.

“Potter Marsh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

What a nice surprise, all kinds of ducks and birds are along the wooden walkways. Just a few miles from Anchorage. We had a few hours before returning our RV and decided to stop and walk the marsh, looking for birds to take pics of, very nice park.

“Volunteers at the Marsh helped us spot a Bald Eagle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

The wonderful couple who were volunteer host at the marsh were fantastic at helping us spot a Bald Eagle. They were very informative about the various wildlife in the marsh and helped us identify several birds we were not familiar with. They kept the grounds looking great and regularly updated the bulletin boards with helpful info.
We stopped on our way to Girdwood and then again 4 days later when we were headed back to Anchorage - it was amazing how different the marsh was just 4 days later. The trumpeter swans arrived!
