“An exceptional place to stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

I have stayed in many hotels and this the only one I would say was exceptional. The hotel is a registered historic landmark and purported to be haunted. The place has been nicely restored, the staff were very friendly, and the included breakfast was above average. Although we saw no ghosts we would definitely stay here again. If you are looking for a place to stay,in Anchorage ,that is a bit out of the ordinary this would be a good choice.

“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

This hotel is absolutely great - and HAUNTED!
A must be on Anchorage.
The only thing that made me not rate as 5 green dots, was there's no restaurant. The bar is just for breakfast and is "dead" at the afternoons and nights. It should be at least a cafe shop in that historical and beautiful saloon.

The staff are great - honest - funny - chatty - very friendly people and I'll never forget them. Hope to come back soon and stay at the very same hotel!

Room Tip: If you're trying to achieve a spooky stay - probably you're gonna get it there. Room 202 ha...

“Charming stay at our new Anchorage base”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

We've been to Anchorage three times at three hotels and the Historic Anchorage Hotel will be our first choice in the future. It was perfectly located for visiting the Great Alaska Beer and Barley Wine Festival and the many outstanding downtown restaurants. The front desk personnel were always warm and welcoming. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows and there was a nice continental breakfast in the lovely (no alcohol) bar area in the morning.

“Great location/Great historic hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We had a marvelous time. The location of the hotel is ideal. We were there for the Great Alakska Beer and Barleywine Festival and it was one block from the venue. The staff members were all great, personable and fun. We would love to stay here again and so would many of our fellow Beer fan friends! My husband even had a brief encounter with a ghost on our last morning.

Room Tip: We enjoyed being on the E Street side but you will get street noise, especially from snow blowers.

“Make sure you're on the 3rd (top) floor.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

Wouldn't stay again unless I got a suite on the 3rd (top) floor. We were on the 2nd floor and the noise from the room above us was the worst I've ever experienced. We could hear every step they took and every noise from their room. When they walked across the floor, it sounded like an elephant was going to come through our ceiling.

Hotel was clean, beds were comfortable, room and bath were small but adequate, good location (downtown, close to everything), parking is $10/day extra and is in a parking lot about a block's walk from the hotel. Staff was friendly. Didn't use the restaurant. Except for the noise issue, an adequate, older, unremarkable hotel. .

Room Tip: Would not stay again unless I was on the top (3rd) floor.
