“Great Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2009

My mother and I stayed at the Embassy Suites for one night prior to our cruise from Anchorage. I choose the hotel because it was new and although not downtown, well located. The hotel is only 2 years old and still looks new. At checkin we were asked what floor we would like. I chose the 2nd floor but once we looked out the window the 4th would have had better views of the mountains. We actually didn't need two rooms (suite) as we didn't use the other room. The shuttle service was inconsistent. We took the shuttle to downtown and later a taxi to a restaurant (Yak & Yeti Himalayan) not too far from the hotel. The Tibetan restaurant was excellent and crowded. When we needed to be picked up to get back to the Embassy Suites it was quite a wait. I certainly don't mind waiting but when I am told that the ETA is seven minutes and then when no one shows up and they tell me another 10 minutes but still no one comes it was annoying. Luckily the weather was nice as we were standing outside the entire time. Contemplated taking a taxi that drove by but decided to wait a few more minutes. The shuttle arrived finally and in 5 minutes we were back at the hotel. We enjoyed the hot breakfast (omlettes & waffles). Lots of people that day but the cook did a great job keeping up with all the orders. We used the free computers/Internet located directly behind reception to check the latest weather forecast for our cruise. Took the shuttle to the Alaska Railroad station for our ride to Whittier. Our Embassy Suites rate was only $109 before tax and well worth it. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

My wife and I spent our 50th wedding anniversary with the Embassy Suites, Anchorage AK. The hotel staff could not have done more to help us enjoy our celebration. Upon checkin they offered their congratulations and rewarded us by upgrading us an outstanding suite. From check in to check out we were made to feel welcome and an honored guest. The room and public areas are what every traveler dreams of. Of course, the breakfast was great and the chef was extremely friendly and capable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants outstanding service and facilities.

After many trip to Anchorage I decided to try out the new Embassy Suites. If I had only know about them sooner. Great looking hotel, friendly staff, and how can you do any better then a suite, oh thats right free breakfast and a nightly managers reception.
you must check out this hotel.

We were with a group and had several conversations with the group sales person before choosing this hotel. After half of us booked, but then those who booked last were told they had run out of group rooms and had to pay the rack rate, which was sky high. This after allowing half our group to book at the written and promised rate. After many attempts to contact them to try to find out what was going on, I finally discovered that the sales manager who we had been dealing with was no longer there. Front desk should have told me that right away instead of telling me for a week that I would get a return call soon. Manager should have stepped in to correct our situation and make good on their promise, but did not. This was during a time when many hotel rooms were empty. Both the Homestead Suites next door, and the Sheraton were eager to have us and treated us very decently given our panic at having the rug pulled out from under us at the last minute by this hotel.

Stay away from this place as I found them to be very dishonest and disorganized in how they dealt with us.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites in Anchorage as part of a group for 7nights. What a GREAT choice!! We loved every part of it. The cooked to order breakfast each morning, the cocktail reception each night, the rooms were great - even the pull out sofa was comfortable. They offered free shuttle to/from the airport as well as to downtown Anchorage and area restaurants. The staff was so attentive it was a wonderful to see and receive that much service! We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone: business and vacation travelers.

I stayed here in March 2009 for several days. Rooms are dark - vinyl sofa is not very comfortable, I certainly wouldn't want to fall asleep on it. Breakfast - very good - omelette guys are very sharp and the coffee is piping hot. A Starbucks next to the restaurant is convenient.
I had dinner at the Pi Restaurant one night - great service and interesting menu choices for a hotel restaurant. The hotel is very convenient to a number of restaurants - one incredible pizza place around the corner has a long list of micro-brewed beers. Also very convenient if you are working at BP headquarters a few short blocks away.
One oddity - you can't take the stairs to get to the lobby - stairs will take you between upper floors but bottom door is only to the outside.
