Sunday night, January 4, 2009. Unexpected snow hits Seattle again! My wife and I met our daughter and her fiancee to celebrate their recent engagement; we met at a restaurant in the Capitol Hill area of Seattle. The more it snowed, the more we knew we would not drive back home, a hilly area east of Seattle. But where to stay? Our daughter has a small apartment nearby, but not enough room for us!
The hostess at the restaurant was kind enough to check online for lodging within walking distance and we were lucky enough to call and speak with Leanne, the owner. She checked with the resident manager, Marty, and agreed to take us in. What a relief!
Marty met us after our trek in the snow and was friendly and helpful. He apologized for being in his pajamas, but at 9 at night, we didn't care. We were so relieved to have a place to spend the night.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Hill House. It is comfortable and attractively furnished and the bed was very cozy on this wintry night.. The next morning, Leanne stopped by and we chatted while Marty made us a tasty breakfast. By this time the snow had turned to rain long before and Marty was kind enough to drive us back to the restaurant parking lot so we could get our car and head for home.
Seattle Hill House will always have a warm place in our hearts!
