“Excellent value..very cozy environment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2011

We only stayed one night at this facility, hence we did not have much choice but to stay at the Garden Chamber which has a detached bathroom...but the room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated...it also has a long balcony that faced a lovely garden.....this was at the tail end of our trip to Seattle to attend a family wedding...the innkeeper carried our luggage considering that there were 29 steps from the street level to the Inn...the sun porch was charming...our breakfast was most delicious...we will definitely return to this Inn when we get the chance to visit Seattle again...

Things they can't control: A million steps from curb to Inn; and next to impossible parking; and the weather.
Things they can control: Perfect, perfect.

Room Tip: Great website. Use it to view rooms and help with your selection.

Dear reviewer, we are sure are glad that you found so much about our Inn to be perfect! That is just the way we like it. While there are some things we can't control....there is quite a bit we can do to minimize the impact of things we can't control. As for the stairs, yep there are a few, OK not quite a million, but there are several of them from the parking area to the front door. I know, I have grown to love them, they give us a secluded space up on the hill, away from the street surrounded by gardens, and trees, and birds, and squirrels. Our place on the hill gives us this beautiful property to share. That said, we do know that travelers come with luggage and often a stairway can be a bit daunting, so please know everyone, as many reviewers have said, that we are happy and available to assist you with getting your bags up the stairs and into your room. Then there is the parking, as we are an urban Inn sometimes parking can be a little tight. but rest assured, we have a plan for this too! We rent a couple of parking spots near the Inn, we move our cars (cause we park on the street too for just this reason) and really can always find you a parking spot near the Inn. We give out our cell number when you get here (and it is posted just about everywhere) so you can call us from the street if you have a parking problem at any time. Check out another one of our reviews here "don't let the apparent lack of parking deter you from this fine establishment from Dec, 2010. He explains our parking plan better than I.
That leaves the weather............and that we truly have no control over at all. But....we have umbrellas for you, right by the front door!
We will also continue to keep working on making the perfect stuff, even more perfect!

I recently spent a week at The Chambered Nautilus in the Scallop Room. The room was clean, calm, and the perfect setting for reading and writing. The staff graciously accommodated my daughter (student at Univ. of WA) when she could visit. Location was within walking distance of several fun excursions. Can't wait to go back!

We recently spent 5 nights at the Chambered Nautilus and loved every minute of it. The staff was friendly & helpful. The gourmet breakfasts were out of this world - am sad I didn't buy more of their homemade granola to bring back with us. We stayed on the 3rd floor of the Inn - the Crow's Nest room. It was spacious, comfortable and charming.
The location is convenient to the U-district, and a 15 minute walk to the bus to get you downtown.
Our overall experience was great & we are already looking forward to our next trip to Seattle and staying at the Chambered Nautilus!

We look forward to your next trip too and promise to have lots of granola ready for you, but in case you can't wait.....the recipe is on our website AND we do have guests that have indeed made it at home! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us.

We spent four wonderful nights at CN B&B and really loved the great hospitality (thank you so much, Joyce), the beautiful building, the nice garden, our cosy and tastefully furnished room ("Garden Chamber") and the delicate breakfast. Even though the next bus stop is at least a12 minutes walk away (so it is not so easy to reach downtown if you don't want to take the car) the location in the university district is really nice.

We loved this B&B - and not just because we were served chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast! The two rooms we had were both spacious and attractive. The Inn has a friendly feel with lots of open areas for reading or visiting. And just to make you feel part of the family, there are always cookies and hot drinks on the buffet for casual snacking. Very close to great restaurants and shopping - we highly recommend the Inn.

My daughter lives in the U district so this inn is in a great location for us. This was my second stay (first was in the fall of 2010) and I thoroughly enjoyed it both times. Most places in the U district are within walking distance as are buses to downtown. The owner is always accessible and very friendly; the staff is terrific. The breakfasts are yummy and the rooms are very comfy. I stayed here alone both times and always felt safe and comfortable. I'll be back!
