“Come for the beer, stay for the food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

The words "Belgian cuisine" inspire few flights of culinary fancy, but Brouwer's serves up some excellent traditional Belgian dishes to pair with its 80 tap beers and over 300 bottled varieties. Yes, the pommes frites are great by themselves, but try them with the mussels or, even better, with the beef stew when they offer it (it should be on the regular menu!). As to the service, I found the table servers quite friendly and knowledgeable about the brews, quite unlike the bartenders who Mannequin Pis-ed off some of the other reviewers. Overall, a terrific place to spend a cold, rainy Seattle evening -- not that they have many of those up there :-)

“Tap, tap, tap! How many taps can you count? 1, 2 skip a few - up to 80!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

Send a scout early if you're needing a table for more than 4... There is no host/hostess. It's first come basis seating, although everyone seems pretty good about managing themselves!
Knowledgeable staff can help provide inquiries about types of beers available. Food is quite impressive. If you aren't hungry, at least order one thing: The Pomme Frites!
We had the Pasta which is only avail on Fri & Sat, [Cucina Fresca’s fresh goat cheese ravioli, sage and butternut squash puree, caramelized onion, green kale, pumpkin seeds].
The Stoofvlees (a traditional Belgian stew made with American Kobe Beef and served over a bed of pommes frites with thyme crème fraiche),
The croque Monsieur, which is really just French for "fancy grilled cheese w/ ham [Gruyère coated organic Columbia bread with Black Forest ham],
and the Brouwer’s Speakeasy. A smoked turkey, apple wood smoked bacon, baby greens, tomato, red onion, dill havarti, honey dijonaise, on an organic croissant.

Parking again is a bit difficult as the area is full of FUN things to do... Enjoy!

“Great beer selection, fun atmosphere.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

A friend introduced me to this place. I like the huge beer selection and the food was good, but I would have appreciated more appetizer choices. There were some, but I had a hard time finding something small since I'd had a large lunch and wasn't very hungry.

“Decent bar, terrible service.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

The beer selection was pretty good with some belgians, some locals and some exotics but nothing too hard to find (would have been more impressed if it wasn't sooo expensive) and the food was interesting with some standard pub fare and some innovative concoctions (again, really expensive for a bar). But the service ruined whatever the bar had going for it so that's all I'll be focusing on for this review.

(Warning: shallowness and callousness below. You want a helpul review, you need to be brutal.)
For starters, the main bartender was
A) obnoxious (maybe she was trying for pretentious but it didn't come off that way at all),
B) mean (she was nice to the single people sitting near us so we think maybe she doesn't like couples) and
C) ignorant about her craft (didn't know one thing about the beer she was serving). All of which I can handle had she not been so
D) unpresentable - read as 'unattractive.'
We could've lived with all that and gave her the benefit of the doubt if she was at least attractive (tip: if you're a hot bartender, you can get away with all that, if not, you need to have a nice personality and know your s**t).

Finally, if that wasn't enough buzzkill, when the 2nd bartender showed up, he and the girl got into a heated argument right in front of everyone. Nice work guys, not! We will skip this place next time. We preferred Elysian and even The Pike Pub over this. They kicked this place's behind in every respect.
