“Simple but delicious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

You enter a simple, nothing special looking restaurant with tall tables and chairs, select one or two pizzas from the few (six) on the menu and wonder what all the fuss is about this place. Then it arrives, and you’ll know why they consider it the best pizza in town. We had seared albacore tuna salad for starter, it was OK, and shared a simple buffalo mozzarella, tomato sauce and fresh basil pizza and the one with sweet fennel sausage – both excellent. The crust was soft and crunchy at the same time; the sweet fennel sausage was accompanied with some delicately piquant, spicy topping, excellent! Then the waitress recommended a triple coconut cake (not on the menu) – it was as serious as the pie! Highly recommended for a simple but delicious meal.

“The Absolute Best Crust I have ever had!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

I'm not sure what they do to make the crust so delicious, but it's incredible. We had the fennel sausage pizza and the broccoli rabe pizza. Couldn't get enough of this pizza. Also had the beet salad. Unbelievable taste. Whoever makes this dough is a genius. You sit upstairs and at family style tables. Everyone is there enjoying the pizza and having a great time. And with such a huge wood pizza open, we walk out NOT smelling like the oven. Amazing. I have now found my new favorite pizza. And ask for Mike to wait on you. He was excellent, friendly and made us feel so welcomed.

“This is not Philly or NY style Pizza”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

And they do not claim to be. So to the credit of Tom Douglass - Serious Pie is exactly as advertised and if you are not from the East Coast or have expectations of East Coast Pizza, this place is terrific. A modern take on "pie" with interesting ingredients. The interior is dark and intimate, the crowd is hip and trendy (as trendy as we get in Seattle) and the Tom is always trying new ideas. This is worth the trip if you are going through Seattle.

“Real pizza, unusual toppings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

The open, wood-burning oven is fun to watch. It almost makes up for the fact that anytime you'd want to eat there you're in for a 20-60 minute wait for a table. Depending on your mood, that can be an annoyance or part of the place's charm.
The pizza is the real thing: hand formed; thin crust. But you won't find the topings in Italy. Well, they offer a standard Marguerita, but otherwise you'll find things like clams, potatos, sweet fennel sausage, and duck eggs.

“Over rated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012 via mobile

The pizza was okay. Not as high as other ratings stated. The service was good. The atmosphere was terrible. Super crowded and loud. Could not even have a conversation with people next to you. I had a headache from how loud it was in there.
