“A little stuffy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012

The best part is Seattle Childrens' Hospital. Thank you Bill & Melinda Gates for such a blessing. The rest of the area is overly expensive, including the University Mall - hold on to your cash! People rushing by, no eye contact, not for the normal folks. If you're not in spandex, running shoes or on a bike, you're not real.

Plenty of places to grab a bite, lots of little shops to find that just right gift for someone or yourself. Lots of handmade items

“Not a lot there”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

The U District, as we call it, or the "Ave" is not what I would call a destination spot. The University Bookstore is very good, and the campus is great, but the area itself is pretty much filled with mediocre restaurants, tee shirt shops, some services like dry cleaners, banks and not a whole lot more. The Henry Art Gallery, which is adjacent to the U District, is excellent.

“BeWare”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

Some good establishments, but only during the day and keep your electronics e.g. iPhone out of site. Day or night crime is high in this area and not just students are targeted. Hi homeless population, especially teenagers. Nice street fare in May though!
