“A delightful travel experience on the Victoria Clipper.”

The entire experience, from telephone contact with customer service to embarking and debarking, was pleasant. Staff people were friendly and helpful, bathrooms were clean and the ferry was timely.

Outside the Clipper company's control is going through customs at each end. The Seattle depot (?) is reached by an open ramp from the dock with partial roofing. It is exposed to the harsh evening weather which can be very windy and cold, and may include pouring rain. Although the US Customs officers were friendly, they do not have control of the environment either. We recommend that travelers carry at least a poncho or rain cape, a warm hat and a change of socks for the return to Seattle. If this were my first experience of entering the United States, I would be very disappointed.

“Clipper to the Tulips”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2010

What an amazing trip! We took the CLipper to LaConner, spent a couple of hours in that cute town and then jumped on a bus to the Skagit Vally Tulip Festival. The people that work for the Clipper are wonderful and so friendly. People are right the ships are a little dated but for as much use as they get, it is understandable. I can't wait to book another trip through Victoria Clipper!!!

“Meh, it was okay”

I've taken a couple Clipper trips one to Friday Harbour and the other to Victoria. Both times the ship was very dirty, couldn't see out the windows, and crumbs and flies EVERYWHERE.

The food they offer is a bag of pretzels.

Even still it beats taking a ferry, and its much quicker!

“Speedy trip - uncomfortable moments”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2010

Was supposed to depart on Friday afternoon (3pm), but the sailing was canceled due to mechanical problems. I was rescheduled without charge to the Saturday. I was also given a voucher for 50% off my next trip, free lunch/breakfast, and 20% off duty free. I was just going over to visit friends, so making my trip 1 night instead of 2 was no problem.

I sat on the aft starboard side and noticed a smell eminating from my seat. Those reviews that spoke of sea-sickness came back to haunt me. Clearly a victim had sat in my seat previously. Unforutnately there wasn't even a place for me to go, I was stuck. It made for an uncomfortable trip over. Skip the packaged meals. Gross.

Having learned my lesson, on the return trip I found a seat that was clean of any kind of stains. Unfortunately due to mechanical problems (again) the Clipper was only operating on 1 engine, so we went about 1/2 speed. Trip took about 3.5hrs. Still better than being re-routed through Vancouver then down to Seattle on the bus. All in all an ok trip back, just a bit on the long side. They offered free beverages, discounted alcohol, and discounts at the duty free.

“Most Enjoyable Ferry Ride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2010

We booked a return trip with hotel (Mayflower Park, Seattle, WA) through the Victoria Clipper at the end of January 2009. It was our first time taking the Victoria Clipper and it was the most pleasant ferry trip we have ever experienced on a ferry. A 2 3/4 hour trip went by so quickly each way! The service was excellent, the staff very pleasant and the food, although limited selection was delicious - the smoked salmon was amazing for the extremely reasonable price! To go downtown harbour to downtown harbour made our trip just too easy - there were cabs waiting when we docked in Seattle to take us to our hotel - the Mayflower Park which was also superb in ambience, comfort, location and their staff were extremely pleasant and helpful! We cannot wait to go again!
