My husband and I have just spent 4 nights staying at Greenlake Guest House. We booked it after reading the positive reviews on Trip Advisor, and can confirm that it lived up to our expectations - even exceeded them.
We stayed in the Parkview Suite, which had a lovely view of Greenlake. The bed was extremely comfortable, and there was a lovely jacuzzi bath. Julie and Blayne were superb hosts and were always available and willing to give advice and guidance. It was the little touches that made our stay so special - free soft drinks in a fridge at all times; free wireless internet access, and homemade cookies available in the lounge.
The 'gourmet' home cooked breakfast lived up to its name - fresh fruit each morning, and then a cooked 'special' such as 'apple cranberry puff pancakes' or 'mexicali eggs'.
The journey into town took about 20 minutes - at different times we tried the bus, took a cab, and drove ourselves in - neither journey caused us any hassle, and it was lovely to get out of town and be able to walk around the park either in the evening, or before breakfast. There were plenty of eating/drinking places within a couple of blocks of the guesthouse.
We would strongly recommend the guesthouse to anyone visiting the area, whether for business or pleasure - we travel a great deal with work, and believe that this guesthouse made for a much more enjoyable stay than staying in the anonymous downtown hotels.
