“Fresh Fried Seafood!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

This particular Ivar’s is the fast food, self-serve, grab and go version of this chair as opposed to the sit down version but is just as good and a little cheaper. You will wait in line so be prepared especially around the lunch hour. However the lines do move fairly quickly and the service is efficient so don’t let that deter you.
The clam chowder is a must! I would also recommend the clam strips, fish and chips, or the oysters depending on what you like. The prices are reasonable in relation to the portion size and the fact that it is good quality fresh seafood and much less expensive than the sit down restaurant next door. Seating is located outside on the pier or in a covered area right next door. It is fun to sit outside on the pier and watch the seagulls beg for food as well as perform aerial tricks or nosedives to catch tossed food. These birds are not shy and the restaurant encourages feeding them so if you are not a seagull fan opt for the inside! Ivar’s is another of Seattle’s tasty places that is a common stop on tourist itineraries.

“Huge restaurant, nice harbor views, very tasty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

This is clearly a Seattle landmark, but the service was very good. I had chowder and a salad: the former was tasty, creamy, and full of the desired clam, potato, and vegetable ingredients. The latter was just a plain Caesar salad...it needed anchovies, given that it's a fish restaurant! Nevertheless, a nice, non-chain alternative to McCormick and Schmick.

“Do this for much less $$$ than the actual restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

I had a great chowder in a bread bowl while sitting outside looking over the water for less than $10. The food was great and the price was right. You can eat Ivar's here for a lot less than what I saw on the menu for the sit-down indoor restaurant.

“Still some of the freshest best tasting fish n chips anywhere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

This is the Ivar's walk up fast food bar just outside the fancy sit down Ivars Acres of Clams. I had not been here since I last lived in emerald city 15 years ago. They now have a heated shelter with benches inside so you can eat your meal. If you want to feed the birds there are still benches outside. I have eaten here at multiple times a day...still the best time is mid morning before the lunch rush.

Ok...I did not order the Halibut this time...why you may ask? Because it now costs 15 bucks for 4 peieces of Halibut and fries...WTF...happend to the prices? Ohh well I ordered the 3 piece cod which is still like 9 dollars. I ordered a crab cocktail which was pretty good and Red clam chowder which is still very tasty. I could have ordered more...but was a bit fish shocked from the price. Food is still quite good, but price outside has become kind of a tourist trap.

Now the inside Acres of Clams...costs a little more money but you sit inside with waiter service and eat off of real plates. And the sit down restaraunt has more choices and some creative dishes. Eat outside for $15 per person or inside for $25

There are many other places to eat at the Pier, and lots of great shops, still worth the visit.

Ohh and one more thing...parking is hard to find down here, and if you do...make sure you pay for the parking at one of the blue boxes...or parking ticket could make your meal even more expensive.
