“A Model Program- Every Metropolitan City Should Have a Fare Start”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

We found the restaurant by accident on line and became interested. The concept of taking homeless men and women and people with at-risk lifestyles- putting them through a 16 week hands-on culinary program and having them return into the community as responsible citizens is commendable. If you didn't know what was going on "behind the curtain", you would never know what their mission was. That's because the ambience, food and service was first class. We went on guest chefs night and got a bonus when we were all treated to a graduation ceremony for the graduates. They are celebrating their 20th year serving the city of Seattle. We were visiting from out of town and walked into a gold mine!

“Delicious dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2012

Tonight was "guest chef night". We were a group of 15 people and had a reservation made months and months ago. Fare Start restaurant is a training program to help students transform their lives. The three course dinner was served by volunteers from Seattle Works. The food was delicious and the service was great. Don't miss this this dining experience.

“Great overall experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2012 via mobile

We went on chefs night, where they have a fixed 3 course menu.
The quality of the food, atmosphere and service were all excellent and what you could expect of a 5 star restaurant. The added feel good factor that the restaurant is helping people is just an added bonus.
Well worth a visit!

“5 star excellence!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2012 via mobile

We had lunch here. Awesome. Chowder was great; blackened salmon sandwich ($13 BTW, dunno why they were put in higher price category), fantastic; service, great; ideals, even better. Take a look around this chic little place, take time to read and check out their website. You might be surprised to find where they get their beginnings and why they are serving world class food.

“Amazing restaurant and mission”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2012

FareStart has a goal to train the underprivileged of our Seattle community to work in the restaurant industry and they've been doing it for 20 years with class and dignity. The bonus for all of us is the wonderful restaurant they run. We attended one of the Thursday night guest chef dinners and plan to make it a monthly date. The food was some of the best we've had and attentive volunteer servers. We were also able to hear from three graduates who shared their stories of their life altering experiences at FareStart. They serve lunch also, give them a try.
