Ended up eating here is a fallback to a poor experience across the street at Purple. It was loud, trying so hard to be cool, and impossible to just have a conversation. But that's not about Shuckers, is it?!
So we hopped across the street, stepped in and although crowded, we were immediately seated in a quiet semi private window table. First good check! Waiter was always there when needed, made solid suggestions on what to eat AND not, and then appropriately was out of sight when we didn't want him hovering. Kudos to a great waiter, Jay. He was that memorable.
Menu is clean and fairly simple, but not boring.Good wine selections, even by the glass. The seared ahi was heavenly, as was the calamari app. Lightly battered, very fresh. The oyster choices we're excellent, and as the restaurant is aptly named, needed to excel in this category. It did.
All in all recovered a terrible potential dinner into a fine meal. Will come again..
