“Great location, not pretentious, excellent service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

Ended up eating here is a fallback to a poor experience across the street at Purple. It was loud, trying so hard to be cool, and impossible to just have a conversation. But that's not about Shuckers, is it?!
So we hopped across the street, stepped in and although crowded, we were immediately seated in a quiet semi private window table. First good check! Waiter was always there when needed, made solid suggestions on what to eat AND not, and then appropriately was out of sight when we didn't want him hovering. Kudos to a great waiter, Jay. He was that memorable.
Menu is clean and fairly simple, but not boring.Good wine selections, even by the glass. The seared ahi was heavenly, as was the calamari app. Lightly battered, very fresh. The oyster choices we're excellent, and as the restaurant is aptly named, needed to excel in this category. It did.
All in all recovered a terrible potential dinner into a fine meal. Will come again..

“Great service, delicious dinner!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2014

We found the seafood at this restaurant located in the beautiful Fairmont Hotel to be very high quality, the Halibut was tender, flakey and prepared to perfection. The mac and cheese with crab was delicious, we shared an order for the table and everyone agreed it was good! If you are a fan of oysters, this is probably one of the largest oyster menus I have seen. We did not try the oysters this visit, but it was tempting, perhaps on our next visit. We had amazing service from Jay, our waiter. He gave advice, knows the menu very well...and had a great since of humor, which was a bonus for our group. He made our experience a better one for sure!

“Great Food...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

The atmosphere is just okay, but the food is pretty great.

I had the halibut special and it was pricy at $32 (in comparison to some neighbouring restaurants, such as Brookyn which is also highly recommended) but really great. In fact, I found Shuckers to be better than Brooklyn. The three cheese mashed potatoes side was exceptional, as was the grilled asparagus.

My partner had the pasta primavera which was just okay. I think the specialty here is definitely the fish, not to be missed.

The dessert was the fudge cake and was amazing (and QUITE LARGE enough to be shared between two!)

Highly recommended.

“Delicious Seafood Dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2014 via mobile

My wife and I had a great seafood dinner. She had a halibut entree and I tried the Paella. I asked our waiter if the chef could spice up my paella and it was spicy and delicious. The service was good, and our waiter was very attentive. I did feel like our table space was a bit small and it would have been nice if it was more roomy. Overall, we'd go back to Shuckers again.

“nice but not excellent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

Part of a noisy company of 15 people, we had a limited choice (staying at hotel Fairmont Olympic) and went to hotel's resturant. Service was quick, even if a bit superficial. Starters (popcorn shrimp, fried calamari, asparagus and crabmeat dip) were very good; selection of oysters - mouth watering. Main dishes - steaks, selection of deep-fried seaproducts, crabcakes, seared tune were very delicious. What did disappoint - cocktails! Guys, what you served me was not a mojito, it was alcohol spiked lemonade. A cosmo was nothing special either. All in all, not a bad dinner, but not very memorable.
