Having read the positive reviews here on Trip Advisor, hubby and I decided to try Matts with my in-laws.
I have to say that I found it a bit of a disappointment and not as good as some of the reviews suggest it is. The menu was quite limited and didn't contain much information about the food listed. The seafood stew, for example, was very spicy but this was not clear from the menu. Hubby and I didn't have a problem with this but if my mother-in-law had ordered this, she wouldn't have been able to eat it.
Wine was incredibly expensive at around $50 a bottle plus tax! The whole atmosphere seemed unnecessarily pompous. The food was good but not outstanding. Service was adequate, but again, quite pompous. The waitress really didn't seem like she could be bothered with questions etc.
All in all, I was left feeling quite short changed and I don't think I'd recommend it to a friend. There are better places to eat in terms of food, value, atmosphere and service...
