“beautiful, designer hotel, new, clean and quiet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2014

Beautiful, designed hotel, new, clean and quiet. Located in trendy Ballard. The hotel itself is meticulously clean and beautifully designed. Courtyard Kind room was really nice and really quiet. The hotel staff were great. Very helpful and friendly. Stayed with wife and 2 kids. Would absolutely stay again.

Room Tip: 5th floor courtyard king suites

I stayed 3 nights last week at the Hotel Ballard. In the middle of downtown Ballard, there are good restaurants and coffee shops nearby with the wonderful Chittenden Locks with its salmon ladders a short drive or walk down the street. And the hotel itself is excellent. But on my last night (Tuesday), there was a thumping bass sound reverberating throughout my 3rd floor room and it wasn't coming from the renowned Tractor Tavern directly across the street. At 11:30 I phoned the front desk who said he would look into it. At 12:30 am, the noise ceased. When checking out the next morning, I inquired where the noise came from and I was told that there had been a party on the 5th (top) floor indoor/outdoor pavilion. I was surprised that a loud event would have been permitted on a Tuesday or any night. This hotel is too nice for an event which would disturb other guests. If considering a stay here, I recommend asking if any such events are scheduled.

We stayed at this hotel for a nearby wedding, and had an amazing time. They give you access to this AMAZING gym next door (pools, sauna, whirlpool, yoga classes, etc) and have a great restaurant downstairs. Its in a really cute area with great restaurants and bars. On Sunday, there was a farmer's market right outside. The rooms are really nice and the staff was very friendly. Highly recommended if you want to stay in Ballard.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a small balcany, and 5th floor rooms are on a patio.

Without going into a long story about the storage place that was closed Sunday, let's just say we got off the ship from Alaska, took a cab to the storage place and it was surprisingly closed. With nobody to call and no place to go, we asked the cab driver to find us a hotel in the area (which looked like it might not be that safe) so the four of us could regroup and come up with a plan. He drove us to the Hotel Ballard where we told AJ and James our pathetic story. These guys were awesome and although it was 10:00am, the assured us they had one room left (Darn, only a garden suite) and would put a rush on it to have it cleaned. They recommended a few breakfast restaurants and the open market that was just opening a block away. Our room was ready within the hour and what a room it was: Rooftop (5th floor) garden suite with a king and foldout bed (pretty comfy actually). Huge soaking tub for my sister the bathtub girl and overall very comfortable for the four of us for one night.
What made this stay memorable for us is the level of customer service we received from the staff to help us even though we had no reservations, no idea of the area and stressed from dealing with the nearby car storage place. If it had not been for that fiasco, we would never have found out about this hotel or surrounding area. Next cruise, we are skipping downtown Seattle and coming here. It's only a mile or so to the docks. Oh, did I mention full access to Olympic Athletic Club next door where they have a pool, weights and classes you can take (get this...NO EXTRA CHARGE). I took the TRX class and my legs are still burning 4 days later, but it relieved a lot of stress. Again, very special thanks to AJ, James and the rest of the staff that made our stay so pleasant.

Room Tip: We only saw the rooftop suites so we're spoiled now. Ask for a garden suite where there is a fir...

I cannot believe it's taken me this long to write this glowing review of Hotel Ballard. We stayed there back in March for my partner's birthday. We had been wanting to check it out and decided to stay in our home city for the celebration. We were greeted with open arms and huge smiles when we arrived. The front desk staff was genuine, kind and incredibly delightful to speak with. The gentleman checking us in was kind enough to upgrade us to a courtyard suite. We were a touch early for check in so they said they would let us know when the room was ready. I remembered that Stoneburner was off the lobby so we opted for a cocktail.

Just a short time later, they came into the bar to hand us our room key. Nice touch! We had no idea, but the courtyard suite was on the roof top. We were thrilled! Despite the clouds and touch of drizzle, it was great to exit the elevator to that view. Our room was wonderfully appointed. We entered into a sitting area with a fireplace. Such a treat! The second area contained the large and perfectly comfortable bed. The bathroom was a real surprise. It was huge! A free standing tub and separate shower. The amenities were Molton Brown, our favorite.

Each and every time we entered and exited the hotel, we had a delightful encounter with the staff. They truly cared about our stay and our happiness. It was a fabulous feeling. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone from out of town or those, like us, who want a local getaway in a fantastic area for shopping and dining. We will return! Kudos to the entire staff!

Room Tip: The roof top Courtyard Suites are fantastic!

My husband and I spent a Saturday night here for our Anniversary. The staff is so attentive and the hotel is just gorgeous. We shopped and ate our way up and down Ballard Avenue. We have stayed at most of the hotels in downtown Seattle and this is our new favorite. Everything fun and delicious is so close! You should try Stoneburner for their delicious brunch. We will be back here for our next occasion which may be an wedding in their fabulous upstairs room. There was not an onsite spa as I noted, but there are several nice ones in the area

Room Tip: Be sure to visit the 5th floor desk with fireplace and cool chairs!

Hi Susan,

Thank you for choosing Hotel Ballard as a surprise for your recent anniversary! Sounds like you celebrated exactly the right way by dining and shopping on Ballard Ave. We can't wait to hear what you think of the event space after the upcoming wedding on the roof. Thank you for the incredible review!

Best,

My fiance and I stayed here for two nights while exploring Seattle. We still talk about how comfortable the bed was and it was within walking distance of several great restaurants and public transportation to get around Seattle. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone staying in Ballard.
