“Cozy neighborhood steak and seafood restaurant.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

While in town with family, we dined on a Friday night. Make a reservation as it is a must. The restaurant is not very big. It has lots of rich dark wood furnishings. Tables are spaced enough to have a romantic dinner or to dine with a group and not feel the volume is too loud for other diners. The appetizer menu is great. If you are a Vodka drinker and enjoy oysters, ordering the 4 oyster vodka shooters are a must. You get 4 local shots of vodka and 4 different oysters with a piece of paper describing them. Very good! We ordered most of the appetizers and never ordered dinners. Steak tips were very good. Clam chowder was nice and thick. Local steamed muscles were a little strong smelling so we sent them back and they were removed from the check. Calamari was delicious, lobster ravioli was perfect. Portions were shareable but on the small side if you are super hungry. Service was good. Only complaint was the online menu from restaurant website is much larger in selection from what is actually presented table side. Probably one of the reasons we did not order any main courses.

“Great food, good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Just walked down from the Hilton to enjoy happy hour based on previous TripAdvisor feedback - it was spot on!

1) Happy hour drink and raw oysters were excellent. Dozen oysters on the half shell ran $18 - clean, salty, and crisp. Well drinks ran $6 and the manhattan was exception for you bourbon fans. Micro brew beers were $4 on average as well - good value for Seattle
2) Main - the tuna was excellent. Cooked just right and with the balance of the grapefruit topping and asparagus side - brilliant.
3) Service - was prompt and detailed at the bar, don't hesitate to pull up a chair.

1) Limited seating. To partake in the happy hour discounts, you must sit in/around the bar. I arrived at 5pm (happy hour from 4-6pm) and their was only 1 seat available. Based on the demand, I suggest arriving before other patrons get off of work.

All in all, great food, good value, highly recommend. Enjoy.

“A must stop in Seattle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Was in Seattle on business but meeting a friend for dinner. Wanted seafood and it was close to my hotel.
What a find!!!
The scallops are to die for.
Loved it so much that I ended up doing a business dinner the next night.
Also recommend the country salad with fresh beets and their unique spin on the key lime pie.
Highly Recommend!

“Local fare must stop here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

You must eat at the counter at the kitchen. Talk with Chef Blair while deciding what you want to eat.
Started with the Hales El Jefe Weizen as a great beer. I do not like fishy foods and the Clam Chowder was great! The Calamari is cut in strips with an exceptional breading and coleslaw. For dinner the L'Ecole No. 41 a merlot from WA was great. The Day Boat Scallops cooked perfectly melt in your mouth. The Steak Au Poivre was heavy with peppercorn, but scraped off was great tasting; I would order it with light peppercorn. The Creme Brûlée is light and creamy to end a meal.
The entire staff were very friendly recommending other restaurants to enjoy while in Seattle.
Chef Blair is exceptional and I highly recommend The Brooklyn.

“Great place for fresh seafood and steaks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

It's been a while since I've visited BSSO but the seafood still fresh, the steaks well prepared and the service attentive. I was there by myself on a Sunday night so the place wasn't hopping, but it didn't change the quality, perhaps only the experience. Had a variety of very fresh oysters as an appetizer and then their filet appetizer as an entree. Oysters were fresh and sweet, the tenderloin cooked just right. In fact I enjoyed the tenderloin app so much I had another. The only shortcoming I noticed is although they have a lot of wines by the glass, no e seemed particularly noteworthy. On the upside they have a good number of good wines by the bottle that are very reasonably priced. So if your visiting Seattle on business or pleasure or just want a very good place to go after work I can recommend the Brooklyn.
