Three of us went for breakfast at the Portage Bay Cafe on a weekday and I'm afraid none of us enjoyed our meals. My daughter, whose whole right side of her body is practically made up of breakfast potatoes she loves them so much, said she never planned to go there again - ever.
I appreciate that they're trying to deliver thoughtfully sourced food, but it just wasn't tasty! My over easy eggs had water on them, so I assume they steamed the tops instead of flipping the eggs, and the water diluted the yolks in a weird and unpleasant way when you cut into them, and of course the breakfast potatoes, which were unseasoned and basically flavorless. My side order of gluten free french toast was not good - no moist yumminess of milk and egg soaked in to save me from the gritty mess that is gluten free bread, it was just a raft of tastelessness. My sister ordered regular french toast and she didn't have more than one bite. For $42 and no pleasure in the meal, I would never go back.
