My husband and I were driving from North Cascades National Park to Renton as a base to then visit Mt. Rainier and wanted to see something in Seattle. I picked the locks and it was great! My husband found it really interesting; how the system worked, the workers as they instructed the boaters on tying off, and the boats. All sizes and kinds of boats and yachts. Then the fish ladder is there for the migrating salmon. Plus, at the entry of the complex is the Carl S. English Botanical Garden where you can eat a picnic lunch, stroll and relax. And it is all free. A great place to relax, be outside and great for families.
