“Old World Elegance in Downtown Seattle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2009

Great hotel in the heart of Seattle. Easy walking distance to Convention Center, waterfront and lots of restaurants and shopping. The service here was great--everything we asked for was promptly taken care of and the staff remembered our names throughout our stay. The building itself is on older property and is on the National Register of Historic Places. the lobby is very nice and has the feel an older, grand hotel. The rooms are clean and good sized but have an older look to them. We were told that this building used to be the Seattle Four Seasons hotel until Four Seasons built a new property on the water. If modern is your thing, you'd probably rather be there than the Fairmont Olympic. Also, we were a little disappointed that although you can get a massage, there isn't an actual spa. Be sure to try the Apple Fritter French Toast for breakfast. It's amazing.

I just returned from two nights at the Fairmont which were heavenly. The hotel upgraded us to a suite, which had a lovely sitting area and a separate foyer-like area for the dresser and closet. Everything was perfect in the room and the chambermaid straightened out the stuff on the bathroom vanity and folded my husband's sweater before placing it where he left it on top of the dresser. We felt gently looked after. The fitness area is a room with weight lifting equipment, but the cardio workout machines are arrayed in a row facing the indoor pool and hot tub. Very nice atmosphere. The Terrace was great for cocktails--there's an "inside" area, where you are in a more intimate setting close to the bar itself, or an adjoining area just outside, where you have an overview of the grand lobby. The dimensions and scale of this place are wonderful. The decoration is old-fashioned in terms of wallpaper choices, etc., but it all looks freshly done rather than shabby or worn. The outside of this hotel is very photo friendly with trim little boxwood hedges and manicured shrubs. Very pretty.

An amazing hotel with gracious and very accomodating staff! ( I had written a longer detailed review TA site lost it while I was attempting to Preview it!
To summarize: excellant front staff, totally unobtrusive and wonderful maid service,
excellant restaurants (Terrace and Shuckers), amazing concierge who are fun, energetic and very helpful. Be sure to ask for a newly renovated room. Location is excellant (LV and Gucci) is out the front door :) We had debated between the Farimont and the FS. I am glad that we made the decision to stay at this property. We plan to return with our children to Seattle and make the Fairmont our hotel of choice. Kudos to a very well run hotel with some really exceptional staff. Happy and safe travels.

My wife and I stayed in the Fairmont Olympic Seattle twice in one week and found it to be an exceptional hotel for location and comfortability.

We travel a lot at times and like to settle in a hotel for it's comfort, price and location. The Olympic fills these needs and more.

The rooms are exceptionally clean and appointed to make you feel comfortable and safe. The halls are bright and the hotel sparkles from the care that is taken to make it comfortable, the bed was one of the most comfortable that I have experienced in a long time.

I belong to a health club were I live in the Chicago area and have found the health club in the Olympic to be exceptionally outstanding. The friendly staff greats you with a freindly greating and cold bottle of water. The pool is heated to 86 degrees and has a waterfall feature with a large spa. The locker rooms are large and have a sauna, private locked lockers, all the necessary amenities and even apples in a basket. Couldn't be happier.

We went to the Georgean room for breakfast and Schuckers for dinner.

For breakfast, we chose the buffet in the Georgean Room. I was like eating in a ballroom. The cereal included home made grenolla and steel cut oatmeal with a choice to add hot bacon, sausage and eggs. It was very good.

Dinner in Schuckers was outstanding. We went for "Happy Hour". When we where seated, at 4:30, we were offered the lunch menu in addition to the "Happy Hour" menu. The "Happy Hour" menu included tap pints @ $3 and fresh oysters @ $1. I chose both and was not dissapointed. The beer included local micro's and was excellent. The oysters were amoungst the best that I have had. I selected the salmon form the lunch menu and couldn't have chosen better. The lunch menu includes similar items to the dinner menu but at a lower cost.

Located just two blocks away from the hotel is the SAM ( Seattle Art Museum), a place worth the visit. The special exhibits, including local indiginous artist, are excellent. A gem is the SAM Cafe Restaurant. Most museums have improved there eating facilities but the SAM has gone beyond the full mile. Easy acces from the museum and the street level plus the gourmet offerings make it exceptional. Worth the visit, both museum and restaurant.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel, we had a junior suite with two twin beds, and they are, twin beds. They were small and very uncomfortable, but aside from that the room was fantastic, they bathroom was large, lovely and well lit. The services provide from the hotel were great, the food was great for the banquets and the everyone was really nice. Location was fantastic too!

Within easy walking distance of the Paramount and convention center too!

We stayed here for 3 nights towards the end of September and had a lovely small suite - I don't know if we were upgraded or if all the rooms are suites - anyway we appreciated it. The courtesy car was excellent - we never had to wait more than a few minutes either leaving the hotel or when we rang them for our return.

My only complaint was regarding breakfast. The first day no problem. The second day we were told that we would have to wait 10-15 mins for a table. This would have been acceptable if the restaurant had been busy but in fact it was only half full. There were no tables for 2 ready and obviously the staff were not willing to re-lay one of those already used or alternatively let us sit at one of the several empty tables ready laid for 4 people. We decided not to bother and to have a "free cup of coffee" in the lobby - all the machines were empty although it was not long after 8.00am and another guest told me this was the same for him on the previous 2 days.

This was the only unhelpful service we had anywhere in the hotel in our 4 days there but on our final day when we did get a table and order breakfast both courses arrived at once so the hot course had to be eaten before the starter. The actual food, however, was good.

I do not know what the service in the restaurant was like for other meals as we decided not to risk it.

I have always loved staying at Fairmont hotels but was very disappointed with everything in this hotel. The room was dirty. We also had the hotel car drop us off at a restaurant and scheduled a time to be picked up. We waited 45 minutes pass the time we were suppose to be picked up and called and was told someone would be there in 15 minutes. That never happened and we ended up walking back to the hotel. I was very embarrassed about the whole trip that I had planned being I bragged to my friends about how wonderful Fairmont hotels were. I guess I should have stayed at the hotel they wanted to book.
