“Very elegant, unexpected room amenities, excellent concierge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2009

This was our first Fairmont Hotel experience and had read all experiences left on Tripadvisor. We enjoyed our stay including the extras that the rooms have, like silk hangers for women's clothing with fragrance sachets, the great toilettries, great shower. They will shine your shoes if you like. We also loved the fact that they have a car at our disposal (at no fee), but did leave a nice tip! The driver dropped us off at several locations throughout our stay and picked us up as well. The driver can only be within the downtown area and that was perfect for us. We had stayed the night prior to leaving on an Alaska cruise and asked the concierge to schedule some activities, including a concert and a car rental upon our return in a week. Everything was waiting for us upon our return. I believe this hotel's service, staff and restaurants are one of the best we have ever stayed in.

Just returned from a five night stay at the Fairmont Olympic and wish I was still there! Great facility in a perfect location with a well trained, very attentive staff. Initially checked in to a newly renovated room (flat screen tv, updated bath, etc.), but it was close to the street and a little noisy for me (but not as bad as the new Four Seasons on First or other hotels), and asked to be moved to a higher room. Ended up on the tenth floor in an "older room," which was perfect and very quiet. I never turned on the TV anyway, so what do I care if it's HD or black and white? Great pool and fitness center; super restaurants; a delightful piano bar in the evenings, and just plain old world charm throughout.

I stayed at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel June 14-17th for business. My business was at the convention center, which was only about 5 blocks away so this was quite convenient. I booked a deluxe room for a very reasonable price, especially considering wi-fi and ethernet internet was included in the price.

The deluxe room had a very comfortable king bed with nice linens and down pillows. By far one of the most comfortable beds I've slepted in for a long time. There is plenty of room for your clothes with drawers and a large closet with many hangers. Robes and slippers are included in the room as are nice quality toiletries. The toiletries include: shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, body lotion, cotton balls and Q-tips. The room also has a safe that can fit a laptop and a good size desk from which you can work.

I ordered room service each morning for breakfast and all the food was excellent. The only downside of this room is that a coffee maker is not included. This was a huge disappointment as most rooms that I've stayed in have a coffee maker. The hotel should really consider providing coffee machines in each room or upon request at the least. Note: room service is very expensive. A small breakfast such as oatmeal and a medium pot of coffee ran about $25 with the extra fees they tack on.

The fitness center is the best fitness center I've seen at a hotel in a long time. The cardio machines are newer and offer DVD and CD players. The sauna is also a great touch. The lobby is beautiful and the staff very pleasant and helpful. I asked the bellmen many questions about where to find a drugstore, a deli, etc and each time they were polite, helpful and accurate with their directions.

Unfortunately, I worked the entire time while in Seattle and didn't get a chance to site see; however, this is a very convenient location if you are traveling on business or pleasure. It's only a few blocks to the convention center, waterfront (Pike's Market) and the monorail, which will take you to the space needle.

Overall, I would definitely return to this hotel whether it be for business or pleasure in the future.

Visiting Seattle for a conference. This hotel room was booked through an online site for a $159/night. It was a great stay. The service felt welcoming, and there was always someone by the door with a smile. I would recommend staying at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, for a central location in the heart of Seattle.

Great hotel with excellent service. Centrally located but the vallet service is very slow and one has to wait for a while to get their car or give their car for vallet parking. The hotel needs to find another option.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2009

My husband and I take several trips a year. Getting away and staying at a luxury hotel is a high priority to us so we reserved three nights in an Executive Suite at what was stated as “the only AAA 5star hotel in Seattle”.
The hotel décor was clean and provided all that you would expect from the Fairmont chain, however, the service was seriously lacking. More along the lines of a 3star hotel at best. Here’s the brief on our experience:
1. A/C in suite did not work. They offered us a oscillating fan. After many phone calls and that ate up our evening, they moved us to another room and offered breakfast the next morning. Things would have been fine, but unfortunately, this was only the beginning of the poor service we received during our stay.
2. We asked the Concierge about seafood in the area. He pulled out a book of menus. We looked them over, selected the entrée we desired and the Conciege gave us directions for the six block walk. Once we arrived at the restaurant, the waiter informed us that the menu displayed at the Fairmont was changed several years ago. Needless to say, the entrée we wanted was no longer available at the restaurant.
3. I booked a relaxing massage. Upon arrival, I was directed to a room with no air conditioning and loud music / group noise echoing from the pool a few steps outside my door. Not a relaxing environment for a massage! It was very loud and the sweating uncomfortably, I decided to cancel the long awaited massage.
4. Concierge desk told us hotel courtesy car would take us to rental car agency where we rented a car for a day trip. When we went downstairs the valet said the car was out for maintenance. We responded – on a holiday weekend? We found out later they really had two courtesy cars although the other car was never offered.
5. When we returned from our day trip, we spoke to Chris Dulac, evening manager who gave us a condescending “I apologize” for the inconveniences we had encountered and told us the car was now back from the Maintenance shop. It was Memorial Day?…. maintenance shops surely were closed….. Anyway, we asked if the hotel courtesy car would take us to the Pier the next morning. He said the car was not big enough for us and our luggage….we were shocked….because the hotel uses a Town Car….can’t get much bigger than that and we only had carry on luggage! Then he said the pier was too far away. We were totally frustrated by this point and said that in lieu of the problems we had encountered, it was the least he could do. He finally agreed to transportation. BTW, the pier is within the two mile driving range.
Lesson learned! If you want a luxury hotel with luxury service, stay at the Four Seasons!

Wow, this place is truly amazing. I have wanted to stay here for about 5 years and when I saw the Executive Suite room being offered on Expedia for $169/night this was too good to pass up. We stayed at this hotel for two nights, I could live here. From the moment we checked in, we were treated like royalty at this 5 star hotel in downtown Seattle. Check in went very smoothly, we arrived late, after a 15 hour drive and had dinner ressies at Etta's, our town car driver took us there and was very prompt when we wanted to be picked up. The town cars are 2009 Lexus, very plush and the driver's very professional and knowledgeable about the Seattle area.

Our room was beautiful with a huge bathtub, marble on the floors, granite countertops, a nice sitting room and a very comfy bed. The room was very elegant and classy. The next morning we enjoyed breakfast at The Georgian, the hotel's fine dining restaurant, it is beautiful and elegant, also. The rooms is very spacious and the food wonderful.

After some time in Mt. Vernon, we returned to the hotel to relax before a nice dinner at Union, our town car driver was very nice and picked us up and took us to the Space Needle where we enjoyed seeing the city lights at night. Just a quick call and the town car was there within minutes.

After a nice breakfast at Cafe Campagne near the market we enjoyed the fitness facilities at the Fairmont, this is a truly gorgeous area with an atrium indoor pool, very spacious jacuzzi, two outdoor decks for relaxing and great weight equipment. We relaxed here for a couple of hours and the front desk was great about giving us an hour extension on our check out. I loved the pool area at this hotel, the housekeeping staff was excellent about keeping the area clean and everything was promptly picked up as guests left the area.

Check out went smoothly and our town car driver took us to the Ride the Ducks Tour by the Space Needle, they also were very nice about picking us up after the tour and taking us back to the hotel. This is now one of my favorite hotels to stay in on the West Coast, we will definitely return again and again to this Grand Dame in Seattle. It has most certainly earned it's 5 star rating in all areas.
