5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

The hotel is a beautiful place to stay...our suite was very nice with a separate living room and a huge bathroom...the bed was very comfy...We had a view of the water and part of the Pike Place Market (sign, anyway)..I would highly recommend staying here...the staff is always very courteous and call you by name...they are always there for directions or suggestions...the concierge was very helpful in attaining a car for us to sight see some more....the health club is beautiful and the staff there also extremely accomodating...

Room Tip: Our room was on the 11th floor, so we had a nice view of the waterfront...when the fog wasn't in...

I have stayed at this property (literally) more than 100 times over the past 10 years, and there are many reasons I keep on coming back. #1) Staff - low turnover. Every employee is a true professional and many have been there over a decade. The employees are competent but not over-eager. Welcoming and warm. #2) Location - center of most everything you want to do downtown...and if it is too far to walk, take the hotel car service.
#3) Rooms - elegant, spotless, big wonderful bathrooms with lots of counter space and comfy beds. More classic than modern, tastefully done. #4)Property- Eat at Shuckers and have a drink at the Terrace Bar and you will sacrifice nothing for staying on site. Great work out room with ample machines, pool, outdoor deck, weight rooms and fully equipped locker rooms. In a decade of stays, I have always been impressed by this warm and graceful property. If you need over-the-top chic with attitude and arrogance, this is not your place. If you want to experience understated elegance and quintessential hospitality.. stay here.

My husband and I stayed here for four days while attending a conference in Seattle. We will definitely stay here again and here's the Pro/Con list for this hotel:

1. Pro

- Staff
One word: amazing. My husband and I went for a run in the morning and when we returned the valet and door guys had two bottles of water and two towels for us. It was such a thoughtful gesture that they had taken the time to procure the items in our absence and have them ready for our return. Considering we had just run up several hills to get back to the hotel, it was the perfect cap to the workout.

- Food/Beverage
The Terrace bar makes a killer gin martini and breakfast in the main restaurant is flawless.

- Location
The location is perfect access to the conference center and Pike's Market. Do bring flat shoes, those hills are no joke.

2. Cons:

- Really minor things, but here they are: (i) the bathroom (at least the room we stayed in) did not have a separate tub and shower; and (ii) our room did not get cleaned one day, but once told, the staff jumped on it and remedied the situation.

I would book it again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Be sure to get a higher room so you don't hear street noise (this goes for every hotel in downto...

Elegant and historical. Great place to stay in Seattle. Close to Pike's Market and the convention center. My room was a suite and was well appointed. I did not eat in the restaurants or require any services. The doormen are extremely nice and helpful. I would stay again.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Fairmont Olympic for two nights in early October. The trip had been planned for a few months, as it was over my birthday weekend. The check-in process was smooth and efficient as my boyfriend had checked in that morning through express check-in online, and we received our room keys from the valet staff.

We stayed in a Deluxe Executive Suite on the 8th floor (thanks to many President's Club upgrade certificates!). The room was lovely, however, much smaller than you'd expect, with poor lighting. Our view was of an office building across the street. The bathroom was larger than average, which was great.

On our first night, after dining at Tulio Ristorante near the hotel, we ordered In-Room dining for dessert. When ordering our desserts on the phone, we asked if a teapot could be brought up to the room so it would be easier to make tea (I had a cold). The In-Room dining person said that this would be through Housekeeping, but said they would do this for us (and/or pass along our request). We never received the teapot, and the staff member delivering our desserts knew nothing of this request and didn't seem to eager to help us beyond delivering the desserts.

My boyfriend had requested the dining reservation at Tulio Ristorante prior to our arrival through the hotel concierge. Our typed confirmation (printed and in an envelope) was delivered and slipped under our door in the middle of the night *after* the night we dined at Tulio. Thankfully, we already knew the location and time of our reservation.

On our second day, we called down to the valet 15-20 minutes before needing our car to visit the Museum of Flight. Upon heading down to get our car, all of the valet staff were quite confused, and one in completely poor taste said that they had "lost track of our car" and jokingly said they had no idea where it was. It's difficult to laugh along with a joke about a your car being lost. We waited an additional 20 minutes for them to track down our car. Thankfully, they took off the $45 nightly valet charge.

Upon returning for the day, we came back to our room to see Housekeeping had not serviced our room (this was about 3pm). When I phoned Housekeeping to inquire, they assured us that we "must have had the Do Not Disturb sign on our door handle" - we didn't. Housekeeping staff came within 5-10 minutes, and my boyfriend and I waited on the couches in the lobby for about half an hour while our room was being serviced. Upon returning, we saw that she was cleaning the room across from us, so clearly our entire section of hallway was missed.

Little mistakes like this are not a big deal, but when numerous errors are made on just a two-night trip, you begin to notice them a bit more.

Fortunately our experience at the Georgian Restaurant both at the buffet breakfast and dinner the same night were excellent. The staff were knowledgable, friendly and efficient. The food was beyond delicious. I would highly recommend dinner at the Georgian to anyone celebrating a special occasion.

Have stayed at this hotel for the past 20 years -- it is always wonderful, always charming, impeccable service. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. Some of my favorite things to do: order a hamburger from room service, the best! Also a great gym where you can always get a bottle of water and an apple. They often have a live piano player in the bar, which I love. My husband always reminds me of the time that we shared an elevator with the band from Cold Play.

One tip: stay away from the jewelry store.

It was our 1st Seahawks game & we decided to make the weekend a belated 20th anniversary celebration, so what better choice than the Fairmont Olympic Seattle??!

From the time we arrived to checking out, the staff was very professional, extremely helpful & friendly. Our package included 20% off meals in their restaurants and we had a wonderful dinner in their seafood restaurant and breakfast in the gorgeous atrium-style dining room. It was the 1st weekend of December and the hotel was bustling with a wedding & office holiday parties but our heavenly room on the 11th floor was blissfully quiet.

The building has so much history & was absolutely gorgeous decorated for the holidays-the workmanship to create this hotel is stunning. After having some local beer at Rock Bottom Brewery (wonderful place to eat & drink very close by), we came back to the room & found a wonderful surprise of chocolate-covered strawberries with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate on the platter (I mentioned it was a belated Anniv trip when booking)!

Coming from Canada, this hotel is perfectly located to get back on the Interstate and close to all the attractions (Bartell Drugs next to the library has a good selection of affordable liquor) such as Pike Place Market & Pacific Centre. Fairmont has a stellar reputation & we have also experienced the same great service at Fairmont Banff Springs & Fairmont Empress in Victoria.

All in all, it was a perfect stay in a beautiful hotel and highly recommend staying here to treat yourself!
