I'm a big fan of the Fairmont hotels but I am beginning to notice that the maintenance is not what it used to be. The Fairmont in Seattle has a great location and is a magnificent building. The employees are great. It's the physical condition of the rooms that's the problem. We stayed in a suite which was nice looking but noticed immediately that the air conditioning was "stuck" and that we couldn't warm up the room. It was like an ice box. Maintenance was called and fixed the problem. Later that day the handle fell off the toilet which meant that it was completely unusable. Once again, the maintenance person had to come. I'm loyal to Fairmont but I can see these kinds of problems putting people off. I'm hoping someone higher up the food chain is made aware that saving money on regular maintenance will lose Fairmont customers down the line. Since I am a Fairmont fan, I'd like to see them prosper.
