“Grand old hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

Stereotypical English like hotel set close to a major shopping area but a 5 minute walk to waterfront. Generously sized rooms full of the mod cons ypu would expect and polite and efficient staff. As a base to explore Seattle this is ideally located. Not spectacular but very nice nonetheless.

This is a grand old historic hotel which makes you just feel rich staying there. When we went in November the Christmas tree was already up which added to charm. There was a mixup with the room and they upgraded us which certainly helped with our impression. The concierge got us into the restaurant when i couldn't. We loved the location close to shopping, Pike Market, Purple for great wine and food across the street and the Red Room for music closeby. The only downside was the old small bathtub.

The Fairmont Olympic is one of those grand old hotels that you can't help but enjoy. On my visit, I had a suite. It was quite spacious, but the furnishings and decor of the room was a bit too outdated for my taste.

That's pretty much the only negative thing I could say about this place. The rest of my stay was excellent. The food was always wonderful, and the service was second to none. A nice surprise was when I first arrived. As a Fairmont President's Club member, I was already checked in the moment I arrived. The bellman who opened my door handed me my key and let me know I could go right up. Super convenient!

It's also well-situated, closed to shopping and tourist attractions.

Room Tip: President's Club members get free wifi and other perks. It's free to sign up, so take advant...

This hotel exceeds expectations in all areas. Rooms are beautiful, clean and quiet. Staff is extremely friendly and work to insure a great experience. Restaurant will compete with any of Seattle's finest. I choose this one every time I'm in Seattle.

This hotel is in a great location in the heart of Downtown Seattle. You can walk to everything from this hotel. It's a block from the train line from the airport, and is minutes from Pike Market and endless shopping. The hotel's lobby is magical, and each time you leave and enter you are greeted by very pleasant and helpful doorman. The staff in the hotel are very nice and helpful, and there is also a very nice seafood restaurant (Shucker's) attached to the property. My only issue with the hotel are the rooms. These are so old you feel like you are back in your grandmother's farmhouse. They are in serious need of an upgrade. There's no complimentary internet in rooms (you would expect for what you are paying there would be), and even worse, it's not even free in the lobby. I'd definitely stay there again if it was on special, but if i'm paying the standard cost, I'm staying at something more modern like the Sheraton or Westin.

Thank you for taking time to write about your stay. We understand and appreciate your comments about our rooms, which we fastidiously maintain. We are awaiting approval on a major rooms renovation, and we are currently refreshing public areas (meeting rooms, The Georgian restaurant) as well as replacing all of our guest rooms with energy efficient, triple pane windows in early 2013.

Fairmont Presiden'ts Club members enjoy free internet (it is free and easy to join) access during their stay. We hope you'll consider joining-- there are many wonderful benefits including curbside check in and a meticulous record of your travel preferences, which makes check in and your future stays as seamless as possible.

The hotel is located on the centre of Seattle, walking distance from restaurants, coffee shops and shopping areas.

The lobby hall is very elegant, during my stay was very nice decorated for Christmas, with many different styles of Christmas tree.

The room was with a confortable bed, was spacious, very clean with all the amenities need it; The bathroom is a good size and clean as well.

Staff Service was good, checkin and checkout was very easy, specially if you are part of Fairmont President's Club, which is free to join it. If you do an online checkin before you get there, they will send you an email to let you know when your room is ready; My room was ready at 10 am. You can get your room key with the concierge and get free internet access.

If you are driving and need parking there are 2 options, valet parking or self parking, which is located on the next block and cost $35 dollars per day.

I stayed here actually about 2 years ago but never reviewed it.

I was with my parents shopping in Seattle and decided the stayed the night. I surprise them booking the Fairmont instead of the holiday inn. First impression as you walk into the lobby is "GRAND". The reception is very well appointed with classic Victorian style features. Although not everyone likes it that way, it was great for me. I used my Fairmont Premier membership to get an upgrade to a suite instead of a basic room. Yes i do admit the hotel is old, but everything inside and out is clean and the staff are nice and professional. I did notice there wasn't a coffee make in the room. One quick call to the front desk took care of it right away.

My favorite part of the property is definitely the pool and gym. I felt like i was in an very expensive spa. i went there three times on a one night stay. In the morning i was sitting at the hot tub. A staff members brough a great cup of coffee and newspaper while im in the hot tub. That's great service.

Like i said, the classic Victorian style is not for everyboby and this is an expensive hotel to stay in. Parking will set you back $30/night unless you have a package that includes parking.

In conclusion, this hotel is very worthy of being one of the few 5 AAA diamonds rated hotels in the region.
