“Location Location Location, and a great place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2009

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary in one of the hotel's jacuzzi suites. We are both large persons and the tub was large enough for us. The surprise was the hotel restaurant, very good food and reasonable for Seattle. The complementary shuttle took us where we needed to go, one should tip though. Staff was pleasant and accomodating. The continental breakfast is deluxe, the waffles you cook yourself are good and there is a strawberry compote to put on in addition to syrup. Lots of fruits and breakfast goodies. The only drawback is that the hotel is next to the hospital, so ambulance sirens are loud. Bring a sound machine, and it works out well. The garage is tight for large vehicles, only a limited number of large vehicle spaces, so if you have a smaller vehicle, take it there. The parking is secure, the 16.00 a day charge is a little steep, but you'd pay that many times over if you moved your car around Seattle. Pool area looked nice but we didn't try it out. There is a QFC food store 3 blocks from the hotel, lots of ready to eat items sold there. Recommended ;we will likely stay there again.

I will treasure my stay at the Silver Cloud forever. The staff were incredible. They were real people. The shuttle service was mind blowing; almost like having your own taxi service. Frequent, friendly, and personal. I parked my car and used it instead. Extra touches like a huge bowl of fresh fruit on the desk at all times, unlimited use of the business room, incredible sheets like I've only had in 5 star hotels.

My room was ultra clean and comfortable. Absolutely soundproof from both other rooms and the street. I did ask for the side of the hotel away from the busy street. Microwave and fridge provided, as well as coffeemaker. The coffee, Tully's, was not good. I was sorry I hadn't brought my own.

Lovely bathroom with nice fixtures and a fibreglass tub that felt warm. The best bed I've ever slept in. However, the maid ignored my big note to not bother making it up (I don't like hospital corners and hated the bedspread). She took the tip and made it up anyway.

Great wide screen TV, clock radio, mood lighting. Very pleasant room, a small suite, really. Small couch and foot rest, a real desk.

There is a very clean free laundry room with newer appliances.

I'd messed up with one of my plans and the staff couldn't do enough to help me sort this out. They were genuinely kind.

The free breakfast was lovely. An abundance of everything you could want: boiled eggs, toast, coffee, juices, yogurt, make your own waffles, fruit, several kinds of cereal and granola. Unfortunately, the restaurant in general is not recommended. I had a pulled pork sandwich that was not the real thing; more like a shredded pork chop. A spinach/artichoke dip with barely any artichokes. Excellent service, but the food was not up to par and overpriced for what you got. I went out to eat or used my microwave most of the time.

Disappointing: no bellhops. I hauled my luggage upstairs myself with a cart. Though the desk clerk did say the maintenance guy would help if I wanted. I thought this was odd. The hot tub was nice, but the pool was too cold. There were no private showers or change rooms, so you had to leave damp and shower again in your room. The entire area was cold, including an icy fitness room. Other guests found it so, as well. Having to walk through the parking garage (even passing a street entrance) to get to it was weird, too.

Overall, though, it was like staying at a B&B but with a lot more privacy. I left feeling very good. But they need to do something about the pool area.

Close proximity to Seattle Univ. caused us to stay at the Silver Cloud. Loved the large comfortable room with microwave, frig and large bathtub. Free wireless internet. Free shuttle to downtown for shopping and dinner saved us the hassle of driving and parking.
Fire alarm at 3am was not terrific but they handled it well and we were back in our room within a few minutes (after the fire department ok'd it!). I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

I stay at the Silver Cloud Hotel on Broadway 10 times per year or so. It is a good hotel for downtown business in Seattle, as it is fairly close, and not ridiculously overpriced like so many of the downtown hotels are. In addition the rooms are nice, especially for what you pay.

The lobby is spacious, and has a nice fireplace that you can sit next to while waiting for friends/cabs/coworkers etc. The attached Cayenne Restaurant has competent fare for reasonable prices. The wait staff is rather impersonal though. The free breakfast that is available in the restaurant is self serve and includes cereals, waffles, yogurt, fruits etc. There is not a cook to order breakfast, but the selection is more than adequate for most tastes, and is better than the free breakfasts at most hotels that I stay at. Of course, being in the downtown/captiol hill area, there are innumerable great restaurants to choose from close to the hotel.

The fitness room is nice, although a bit small. That's okay, however, because I have never encountered anyone else in the fitness center. The pool and hot tub are great. They are both indoors in the basement area, although you do have to walk through the parking garage (albeit a short distance) to access both the pool and fitness area.

The rooms themselves are spacious, with the exception of a few per floor which are much smaller for some reason. The rooms have all been recently updated with new bedding and flat screen TV's which are very large and nice. There is complimentary wi-fi throughout the hotel. All rooms come with a microwave and refrigerator, although you would have to bring your own food as their pantry type store is very limited in it's content.

The parking is located below the hotel for a fee. It is a bit tight, and I have heard several stories of people having problems parking larger vehicles there.

All in all, based on what you get for the price, I would say that this hotel is a "best kept secret" for the area, which should be considered when looking for downtown lodging.

Choose this hotel for it's location to Seattle University. A lovely safe hotel, nicely appointed with Aveda products. Really fluffy towels and comfy bed and pillows. Only drawback is front facing rooms on Broadway have siren noise from hospital down the block. Ask for a room off of Broadway if you want quiet. Breakfast was good with premium coffees/teas/hot choc. they offer hard boiled eggs for those that want protein and not just carbs. Always lots of apples at front desk to grab on way in and out of hotel. Security was great with room key needed to access floors/garage during late hours. Front desk staff very friendly, extremely clean rooms & common areas. Easy to get to & from Fwy. Charge for parking garage ($16) but secured lot & lots of parking. I felt it was a fair charge. Did not use shuttle service but saw others utilizing it. Would definitely stay at this location or chain again!

The Silver Cloud Broadway was a great place to stay during our 2-day visit to Seattle. The staff was friendly and provided good directions and tips on things to do around town. There is a good free breakfast at the restaurant next door and fresh fruit is available at the front desk for free all day.

Our room was spacious, with a view of the community outside. There was a little fridge and the bathroom was large. The rooms were very clean and well-maintained.

Though, there is not much going on in the neighborhood, the hotel is a short walk from some restaurants. Nearby is a friendly gay area of town with some cute shops and cafes that were occupied by gay and straight clients.

If you don't mind walking for 15-20 minutes, the city center is a pleasant walk. We really enjoyed walking around Seattle. But, if you are not inclined to walk, the hotel has a free shuttle service which we did not use.

The hotel has parking, a pool and hot tub. No complaints on this hotel. I would probably stay here again.

Silver Cloud Broadway is a very nice hotel! The rooms were great, beds comfortable, bathroom very clean. The little fridge, sink and microwave in the room were a nice convenience. A grocery store is just down the block. The breakfast was delicious every morning -so many choices!! I was stuffed each day. The location is pretty good, about a 10 minute walk to the convention center. Buses in Seattle are pretty easy to figure out also. The fitness center is small, but good for a quick AM workout. The pool was a bit chilly, but also good. I would definitely come back here again and recommend to all!
