“CHINATOWN????”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

I am very shocked at this area that they call Chinatown. As some have said, its horrible. There's tons of homeless people on the streets... more than people here to shop or eat. There's a corner bar on King Ave that seems to be really busy tons of drunk people. The rest of the area is small shops. I don't even feel safe to walk around. So stayed in my hotel. One good thing is that my hotel is less than a block from the bus station so easy access to anywhere you want to go in Seattle. Busing in Seattle is awesome.

“not very impressive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Don't expect to find something extraordinary there. Basically, the whole district consists of the Chinese Gates, a big grocery store in the middle, about 20 different asian restaurants and traditional asian medicine places spread over 10 streets. The best part of the district is a hidden Japanese friendship garden. It is a bit hard to find, but it is a nice place to chill and rest for a second.

“Good food & interesting shops”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

This isn't San Francisco's Chinatown. With that said, there are lots of good restaurants, from little hole in the walls to upscale dining. Walk around and discover shops selling teas, herbs and Chinese medicines, clothing & gifts. It makes for a nice afternoon.

“Don't do it.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

If there had not been a pair of dragons on the light post, I wouldn't have known I was in "Chinatown." It's basically a few streets of grocery stores and restaurants and homeless people. I did not feel safe. If you've been to San Francisco's Chinatown, this is nothing like it. Nothing at all. The only upside is they had inexpensive dim sum, but I don't think it's good enough to waste the time going. Spend any extra time at the Pike Place Market or Chihuly gallery.
