“Business & Pleasure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

Recently stayed at the Waterfront due to a conference attended by my husband & delegates from around the world. This was great venue for the conference with ample rooms etc.
Our room catered to our needs and was clean and comfortable. Indoor/outdoor pool was interesting and the gym adequate. The onsite restaurant was enjoyable for breakfast and we did have a dinner there also. The sights of Seattle were great and we were in walking distance to the famous Pikes Market and original Starbucks!

We stayed here for one night before our cruise to Alaska. We are Marriott loyals so we expected this to be a great stay. Unfortunately from the first greeting we received we were not satisfied. Being platinum members we are recognized as soon as we check in and we are offered an upgrade to our reservation, this hotel staff member did not think that was important. We expected a room with a beautiful bay view and ended up with a room with a limited bay view. The positive side is that we were able to walk to the market, but the walk is up a steep hill under a highway overpass and it's not so close, maybe about 3.5 blocks. We were supposed to stay here for one more night after the cruise, but we cancelled the reservation and chose to stay somewhere else. Definitely not worth the extra $$$ we had to pay for this stay.

Stayed here for three nights. Didn't rent a car and walked everywhere. Had a nice room with a water view. Good staff, nice 8th floor lounge. If you are taking a cruise, the place to stay (we weren't but lots of folks were!).

We stayed at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Seattle because it is right across the street from Pier 66, which we thought was the pier our Celebrity Solstice was going to be at for us to take our cruise to Alaska. Unfortunately, our ship went out of Pier 91 approximately 3 miles up the road. The total cost of our 1 night stay was 347.00 with approximately 48.00 in taxes and fees - if we had reconfirmed that the ship was at pier 91 in sufficient time, we would not have stayed at this hotel. Breakfast buffet for 2 was 60.00 dollars not including tip. The shuttle up to pier 91 was 7.00 a person making our 1 night stay a total cost of 421.00 not including tips. The hotel is nice and has a great location for walking to many tourist attractions including the open market with the "fish throwing" shop but the overall cost is prohibitive from our standpoint.

Room Tip: Many hotels close to the tourist shopping areas that are much less expensive.

We stayed here 2 nights, a day before our cruise and a day after. The hotel is in a very good location. It's close to Pike St market and not far from the Space Needle. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. The only negative I had was that its a little difficult to get a cab here. Both times we had to wait about 10 minutes. I think it's because of all the piers for the cruise ships so close by but I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel has a good location, is clean and has friendly staff. The snack shop was suppose to be open till 10pm, we went down at 9pm and they were closed. The sign stated the desk staff would assist if needed, when asked they replied with room service for a fee. It should have been free room service. Vending machines were on some levels or not at all as the 3rd floor. We had just got in and were hungry and thirsty. With a price of $300 a night they could at least have a complimentary breakfast, shuttle to and from airport, enough towels for the number of guests in the room. At least there was a coffee maker in the room!! Will not stay there again.

Great location on the water if you have views of Elliott Bay. Rooms are clean, staff is friendly with the exceptional Marriott customer service (for the most part). Being easy walking distance from Pike Place Market and the waterfront attractions was REALLY nice! Take some time to walk towards the waterfront and look at the boats docked before you get to the aquarium. If you look down at the edge of the water, you'll see scores of starfish on the rocks there of all colors and sizes. Amazing. The views are fantastic as well.

That said, the cost of the room was high (if you aren't staying on points), and the cost for valet parking is incredibly ridiculous. Especially when they add almost another $10/day to the $38/day valet fee for "taxes". Insane. I could've paid for another night at the hotel in just what we paid for in parking. This is higher than other hotels in the area. On top of that, there are plenty of valet guys, but it took waaaay too long for them to retrieve the car. We'd call from the room, wait 10 minutes to go out, and 9 out of 10 times, they hadn't even left to get the car until we got there. So then we'd have to wait another 10 minutes. For what we were paying - crazy. And then... what's with the tips in this situation? I was advised by a local that when paying for valet multiple days, I should tip once upon check out. My husband didn't buy into that, and believe me, no one refused his tip. WAY too much money.

And, there was a large event at the hotel on Friday. The two bartenders could not handle the crowd whatsoever. The food and beverage manager came over to check on them, while I was still standing at the bar for 20+ minutes waiting to be served a glass of wine, and upon seeing annoyed people standing at the bar and a LINE, he asked for a comp drink for an "important guest" who wasn't in line, right then. Ugh. Jerk. Thanks for making the REST of us wait even longer while you weren't helping your staff.

The concierge suite is a bit... underwhelming, compared to other Marriotts.

But, the rooms are nice, quiet despite street noise, and well furnished. Front desk staff was always super nice. Make sure you have a water view to make this worth it.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor with a water view and balcony.
