A frustrating experience at Marriott Waterfront this past weekend. Me and my husband stayed there with a friend, who arrived before us way before check-in time. It was our reservation, but in order to give her a key to check in, they put her name (AND credit card) on file. When we finally checked in, the staff was so confused. I asked to make sure the friend checked in honoring our reservation - this really confused him. Then we emphasize that he needs to make sure all charge is charged to our card (the original rez), instead of our friend. After being assured that it is, we asked him the last 4 digits of credit card on file just in case. Nope, it was still wrong, though he took our credit card already.
Next day checking out, we asked to make sure what credit card it was charged to, still the wrong one.Why why why? We tried to straighten it out. We still think it's possible that they charged our card as well as our friends.
We did the valet parking at the hotel, after waiting around for 10 minutes for them to bring up the car, when they brought it up, they finally tell us that because we registered the car with a different last name from the reservation (our friend's), they couldn't charge us. 1st of all, the rez already have two names on it. What's so complicated? 2nd of all, why didn't you tell us the issue before you went to get the car? Why make us wait? While processing the valet charge, our car is staying in the single lane driveway that all cars go through. Smart.
We are thoroughly disappointed in the stay. Will not be going to any more Marriott. Not just because it was a horrible experience dealing with the staff this time, I find it irritating that they charged $14 for the Internet, what's with the no fan in bathroom? I think they should do a better job about telling potential customers that there is no smoking allowed anywhere on the property, not in the patio, not outside on the driveway. I don't even smoke, but I find the lack of communication inadequte. Is the strategy to trick them in first, then they can suffer? I'm certain that i specified for extra towels - which was not done, I guess with the confusing situation of adding a name to the reservation, nothing works anymore.
