“Clean, comfortable and good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2009

This was my second visit to the Mediterranean Inn. Each time I have been impressed by its service, location and cleanliness for what has to be bargain rates. Traveling with my young son, I like the in room VCR and movie selection, free microwave popcorn and bottled water, and the microwave/fridge/sink area in the room which allows me to make small meals and snacks for my little picky eater and store gourmet goodies I've picked up during stops at Pike Market or Metropolitan Market in Queen Anne. The bedding was comfortable and above average for a budget lodging. The location is absolutely perfect for families, being just a five minute walk from Seattle Center and all its parks, museums, food court, mini golf and the Monorail which zooms you downtown to more attractions. A cab is always waiting outside the hotel should you need a ride, Safeway is across one street and a local hamburger legend (Dicks) across another, not to mention a nearby cross town bus, post office, dozens of restaurants, a movie theater, etc. The location simply cannot be beat. The Starbucks in the lobby of the hotel is also a plus as it is open early and closes late for more snack time. Kudos as well to the friendly hotel staff and I appreciate the clean fitness room with apples and more bottled water. One caution...don't book the sixth floor in the winter. There is a chill from the roof that the heat cannot quite take care of and I found our room either too hot with the heat on high or too cold with it turned down. Poor insulation in the roof I would guess.

Clean, functioning, quiet. Got it for under 100.00. Internet 5.00, should be free but. Parking 15.00 in/out privileges. Careful trying to get in and out though as you can scrape the bottom of your car. THE ROOFTOP! Incredible view of the Sound!!!! Great location!!!! Lots of restaurants right up the street as well as grocery stores. Went to Pesos for breakfast!! WOW!

The rooms have b een remodeled but cheaply done, the pictures are misleading. The roof top terrace is nice and has a wonderfull view. The staff is friendly. Overall the Hotel is a Motel 6 with a few extras. I would have ratther done more research. By the way i asked to speak with the manager...she did acknowledge me but never came to speak with me (very dissapointed in Her ((manager))

The Mediterranean is an older hotel, two short blocks from the Key Arena side of the Seattle Center in Queen Anne. It has been lovingly remodeled in warm yellows and browns, and shows obvious care.

Unfortunately, it still retains a couple of the negatives from its former life. Rooms are smaller than most (except the corner queen suites, which are large and beautiful), and there can be a residual smoke odor. The hotel is completely non-smoking, but smells as if it didn't use to be. It's not a quiet place, and you may be able to hear the baby crying in the next room (we did).

The positives include very comfortable beds, flat-screen TVs, and excellent staff. They are top-notch, especially Guadalupe, who seemed to bend over backwards for every guest. Amanda was nice, but a "loud talker". I didn't see more than two people on duty at a time. They were busy, but appeared to be in control.

There is underground parking for $15/day. A very large and well-equipped business center, plus two computers in the lobby for quick use. Starbucks is accessible through the lobby. A decent fitness room is on the bottom floor, along with a laundromat and snack room. The front door is secured at night, accessible only by key.

The Med rents rooms by the night, week, or month. A furnished studio for a month is $1065, less than most rents in the area.

Safeway is half a block away; Dick's burgers across the street.

We booked through Hotels.com, and were surprised to find that we could've gotten the room more cheaply through their Web specials on their site. Make sure to check.

Unless we got a great deal at the Westin, we'd likely stay here the next time we're in Seattle.

We made last minute reservations on Thanksgiving night. We didn't know what to expect but wanted to be in the city the next AM for the parade and shopping. What a pleasant surprise to find this spot! Our room was comfortable and clean. We felt safe and at home. Usually, I tend to stay in pricier luxury hotels that when discounted cost $150 to $200, not including parking. After taxes and parking this was under $100!
This night away was just for a place to sleep so we could enjoy the next day in the city. It was perfect. There were some small cosmetic issues with the room, but nothing that compromised safety or comfort. Our only complaint was that our window didn't close properly. We weren't on a ground floor, so it didn't matter much to us. At least the thermostat worked, and the electric heat was a welcome change to hotels that blast noisy air on you off and on all night. Everyone was helpful, efficient, and friendly.
The next day we walked downstairs to grab coffe, then to the Seattle Center to take the monorail to downtown. It was a bonus that parking at the hotel was only $15, so we were able to leave the car there. We chose to park on the street at night (free), right in front of the hotel. We only parked in the garage for the daytime which was only $7.50!! For the room alone I paid about $80 using an online discount site . Considerating that was the price AFTER taxes and fees, and after we "upgraded" to a queen bed, we were thrilled with the price. Another bonus was the microwave, sink, and refrigerator which was a perfect mini-kitchen for us to store food after our Thanksgiving feast. We filled it up, even though it was spacious. (we snacked on our complimentary popcorn and water during the day, too.)
We will definitely stay again for a quick city getaway.

The Mediterranean Inn is a great find for those visiting Seattle for the first time.

Location: The location is ideal. It's only a 5 minute walk to the Seattle Center-Space Needle-Experience Music Museum. Plus, the Seattle Center is also the starting point for the monorail which gets you downtown in only 5 minutes. We visited the Seattle Center in the morning and then hopped on the monorail to downtown. From the monorail depot downtown it's only a 4 block walk to Pike's Place Market. Walking to the Seattle Center and hopping on the monorail sure beats renting a car or relying on cabs everywhere. The hotel itself is in the Queen Anne neighborhood which has great restaurants and shopping. It's got a small town feel in the heart of a big city.

Hotel: In the lobby, the hotel has framed reviews from various publications and one states something like, "the hotel won't win any design awards." It's true...but who cares. The place is spotless and the rooms are spacious and come with the added benefit of a small kitchenette. Not sure if the kitchenette is in every room but we had one in our king room. Since we were traveling with a small baby, the kitchenette was great to have. If the weather permits, there is a great roof deck with sweeping views of Queen Anne Hill, downtown and the Space Needle. My only complaint - the rooms are all equipped with VCR's. We had travelled with a number of DVD's to keep the baby occupied and it would have been nice to play them. Plus, there is a Blockbuster Video across the street and it would have been nice to rent DVD's if needed. I guess this is more of a suggestion than a complaint.

Service: The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was not ready at the time of our arrival but they were able to move us to another room at no additional charge. Everyone we met was always welcoming and happy to assist with any questions.

Overall, for $109/night, you cannot go wrong. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to family and friends.

We stayed here November 6 & 7, 2009 for a mini-family reunion and booked three rooms.

Arrived late Friday night in a downpour and got utterly lost in downtown Seattle. (note to self: always always always take a GPS to Seattle..the roads in downtown are confusing in the best of times, but insanity in rush-hour traffic, after dark in the rain.)
Samantha at the front desk, bless her heart, guided me, over the cell phone, turn by turn right to the front door. Then she had all our keys and parking slips ready when we walked in. This set the tone for the WHOLE weekend...the staff at M-I are amazing people!!!

We had two different room types (two rooms w/ two queens & one room w/single queen).
Aside from the sq footage, the rooms were all equally well appointed. Modern amenities, clean, comfortable and quiet. The rooms each included microwaves, coffee pots and a sink and counter, as well as nice comfortable easy chairs. The larger rooms each had large screen LCD tvs, the smaller room had an older crt version. Internet access is only $5/night.

Located on Queen Ann avenue at the corner of Republican, it is centrally located to much of Seattle highlights. In walking distance are a huge variety of restaurants and cafes, including the legendary Dick's Drive-In which is directly across the street.

This hotel is only one block from Key Arena and Seattle Center. The Space Needle is on the opposite side of the center from the hotel, so it's equivalent to about a 4 or 5 block walk.

My only knock is there is no in room safe, but this is inconsequential considering the value.

I highly recommend this property.
