“Greatest Hotel Experience Ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2010

Spent three nights at the Watertown while visiting my daughter, a UW freshman, and could not have been more favorably impressed. As busy as this hotel was, they somehow kept delivering little extras that made me feel like a special guest.
I used the towncar service to run a couple of errands downtown, so I didn't really need the rental car that I had; it sat in the garage (free parking!). Everything in the UW area is a short walk from the Watertown, and if you opt to take public transportation the bus to downtown stops a half block from the front of the hotel. It is about a 15 min. ride.
The desk staff was courteous and helpful. I requested one of the special "carts" (movies) that is a signature of this hotel and it arrived right on time. I
The room was large and well laid out. I had a quiet corner room that offered views of the Space Needle and also a bit of a water view. The shower had plenty of pressure and the bed was very comfortable. And the room was absolutely spotless. I could not ask for more.
I also availed myself of the very generous complimentary breakfast each morning, and there is a wine tasting in the afternoons (I didn't partake). I used the loaner bicycles to get around the campus and U District, and tried out a few bike trails while my daughter was in class.
When you add in all the extras that come with the basic room charge, this hotel is an excellent bargain. And it is a GREAT hotel experience.

We can't say enough about this new hotel. My wife and I are in the travel business and we were thoroughly impressed with everything that the Watertown offered! GREAT value, complementary, secure, underground parking, complimentary downtown shuttle service every hour, complimentary full breakfast, complimentary Wi-Fi internet access and a wonderful, spacious, corner room, 15 min from downtown Seattle in proximity of Univ of Washington campus with access to many wonderful restaurants. GREAT service with a warm and friendly staff who went out of their way to make sure that our visit exceeded our expectations - AND IT DID! The next time we're in Seattle, there is no question where we will want to stay! THANK YOU Watertown staff!

We booked this hotel four months in advance over the phone and were told there were rooms available. We were supposed to receive a conformation email which never arrived. We called to find out what was going on and and they lost our booking. They re-booked us and told us everything is okay. We called again to double check a month before because a friend of ours who was staying there had to be moved to another hotel because of a booking problem. They told us our booking was confirmed. A day before we were set to arrive we called to confirm again and they said they had over booked the hotel and that we had to stay at another hotel. This is incredibly annoying considering a lot of time went into deciding which hotel to stay at. Four months ago we would have had our pick of hotels and a day before we were set to leave there was nothing in the area. We had no choice but to go with this alternate hotel. Also, no one had called us up until this point to tell us they changed our location. We would have arrived after a long flight only be told that we were being sent to another location. Serious improvements need to be made to their booking system before anyone considers this place.

We're very sorry with the unacceptable, unprofessional and unreliable manner with which your reservation was handled. We have since upgraded our reservations systems, practices and standards. We're concerned that this is your lasting memory of our hotel.

We hope to welcome you back in the future. If my team or I can be of any service to you , please contact me directly at mbaumann@staypineapple.com.

An awesome property! Rooms are first rate: spotless, well-designed and comfortable. Lots of great touchs. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is excellent. Free parking. Free shuttle to downtown. Our hotel of choice in Seattle!

Try Village Sushi near 50th; outstanding sushi restaurant!

Very pleasant hotel indeed - clean and tidy inside, rooms great with good amenities. Made a nice change to not be in a indentikit Holiday Inn/ Marriott chain hotel. Quiet in the room and slept very well. Breakfast could have been a little more inspiring but thats nit-picking. Overall very good value indeed and a really good base if visiting or working at the University.

Great hotel. Rooms are contemporary and clean. Fridge and coffee maker in mini-suite (regular room). Comfortable bed and pillows. Good location. They have free bikes to borrow and ride around town....a very nice touch. In three days there on business I took a bike out four or five times. There is the awesome bike trail (Burke-Gilman?) a few blocks away which is perfect. Service was friendly and helpful. Even have a PC in the lobby for you to print your boarding pass. Breakfast buffet is better than usual. Recommended!

Okay - there are always going to be the odd, rare ratings that make no sense relative to the overall comparative ratings of a particular hotel. This is always kinda frustrating when trying to decide on a place to book, but when considering the Watertown, please take those ratings with a grain of salt.

This is my second stay here, and it's a FANTASTIC hotel, in a great location. The property is in the university district, very close to UW (worth a visit), just close enough to downtown, and very convenient to the freeway.

The staff is very nice, helpful, and assisted with dinner recommendations, etc. There aren't "doormen" falling all over themselves, but that's a good thing. The rooms are nice, very classily decorated, and most importantly, the beds are very comfortable. The rooms have an almost nautical feel. The lighting is not dim.

I should note the parking area (structure, under hotel, FREE) is a bit tight, but very secure, with card only, fully gated-access. The complimentary breakfast is great, and the coffee is excellent. The breakfast area is surrounded by large windows and some bar seating that allows you to watch the UW students making their way to classes.

Never had any issues with "homeless" people, and probably saw alot fewer than you would staying at a big-box downtown. Since my 2005 visit, an older stripmall across the street has been replaced by a very nice set of low-rise condos, with businesses below, including a small bodega which was very convenient. This is one of the cleanest hotels I've stayed at, and it's in a nice area IMHO.

I think it all really depends on what you want out of a hotel. If you want all the phony "service" amenities (turn-down, doorman, etc.) then the Watertown may not be for you.

If you want a classy, clean, nice, unique place to stay in a really cool part of town, near the prettiest PAC-10 school campus there is, then stay here.

Two suggestions for improvement - the fitness center needs to have equipment updated, and it's time for flat-panel TVs.
