“Enjoyed staying in West Seattle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

We really enjoyed staying at this west seattle hotel. Our room was clean, comfortable and most importantly quiet (we are parents away from our toddlers and needed to sleep!) We enjoyed the fact that we left our vehicle for three nights while using public transportation, the shuttle/water taxi and walking to get around. We would definitely recommend staying here and will be back again in the future hopefully!

Room Tip: We stayed in the interior rooms and stayed on the second floor. Would definitely recommend this.

Thank you for writing about your stay at our Inn. We are very happy that you enjoyed your visit to West Seattle and were able to take advantage of all the transportation options available to move around the city. It is a great plus to be so conveniently located within waking distance to so many restaurants and shops right here in West Seattle.
We hope to see you soon,

This is a great little place to stay in West Seattle. It seems like a old fashioned motel with parking right in front of the rooms but was recently renovated. Room was bright and clean.

We picked it because it allows dogs ($35/visit fee), for its free parking and to explore West Seattle.

Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was hard boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, fruit. Pretty nice for a modest breakfast. In general this is not a luxurious place but for the price is reasonable and comfortable. Free wi-fi, big screen TV, window air conditioner.

West Seattle is a nice retreat from downtown Seattle. The inn is a 10-15 min walk or short drive to the West Seattle Junction, a concentration of shops and restaurants at the junction of SW Alaska and California Ave.

We really enjoyed eating at Ma'ono Fried Chicken for dinner and Bakery Nouveau for sweets.

We took the water taxi to downtown Seattle. The free shuttle picks up across the street but the stop is not labeled for the water taxi. Between waiting for the shuttle and waiting for the water taxi, it probably took over an hour to get to downtown Seattle. The water taxi schedule is posted online and it typically leaves on the hour and half hour at peak times. You could time it better but we used the wait to eat lunch at Marination Station which was good.

It is a short drive from the inn to downtown Seattle.

There is a big park across the street to walk dogs.

Thank you for the great review. Yes, we do love dogs. Even though we are a small motor inn, we do offer clean upscale rooms at affordable rates, our location is perfect for exploring the shops and restaurants of West Seattle and it really isn't that far to downtown from here.
We hope to see you again soon!

As Seattle downtown hotels ask huge rates, this is a perfect option: the Grove is located in West Seattle but has easy, quick and cheap options to travel downtown.

A busstop is at the frontdoor ($2.25 to downtown in 15 minutes). We took the free shuttle to the watertaxi. The watertaxi gives you the best view of Seattles skyline!

Parking at the Grove is included, rooms are very convenient, extremely clean and the beds are just perfect.

Staff was very helpful, providing us with detailed information about travelling to downtown and going the extra mile by looking up some special requests for us on the computer.

Extra tip: go to California Ave just a few blocks for some very nice restaurants and shops.

Would highly recommend this facility!

The hotel is older and isn't fancy but the staff were helpful and friendly, and its a short walk to shopping/dining. They also provide a free breakfast.they have a parking lot and the parking is also free.

I stayed in this motel when it was a Travelodge many years ago. It was nice then, but it's even nicer now. The location is great - the bus into Seattle is just across the street and it only takes about 10 minutes to get into town, without all the headaches of looking for a place to park, which is just about impossible in Seattle. The new owners have done a wonderful job with updating the rooms, and the outside looks much better, too! The only thing I can say somewhat negative about my room (Room 201) was that there was no AC. They did have a good fan going, but it didn't do quite as good of a job as AC. The other rooms appeared to have AC, though. However, if this was the only room available and I stayed here again, I'd still take it. It's just a nice, cozy, and clean place. I would definitely recommend it to friends and I would stay there again.

I appreciate your taking the time to review us on TripAdvisor. Thank you for mentioning the renovation. Yes, we are still a motor lodge by appearances, but what we offer are clean accommodations and great guest service along with a location that is convenient to West Seattle and downtown Seattle. One of the items I hope to have "fixed" by next summer is the lack of air-conditioning in the unit you were in, and 3 other units that don't have it. We are looking at a couple of different options to take care of that issue.
Thanks, and hope to see you back soon.

We stayed for 4 nights and was perfect. The price included parking. A free shuttle bus down to the waterfront was right across the street. Once on the waterfront we took the short water taxi ride into downtown Seattle. When done for the day in Seattle took the water taxi back and caught the free shuttle bus back to the hotel. Room was clean and comfortable and the front desk / lobby person was friendly and helpful.

Everyone at the Grove in West Seattle were very friendly and helpful. This Inn is very reasonable in price and Very convenient to downtown Seattle by way of the water taxi. the fee for the taxi was like 3.00 for each way and gives a phenomenal view of Seattle as you approach arrival. It drops you off right downtown and from that point you can easily see everything by foot or tram. The Grove has very nice rooms with nice decorations and mattresses. The breakfast has fresh fruit yogurts and all the other breakfast bar choices. The rooms are the size of the original hotel that was renovated by the ingenous people who thought of saving this site.So the rooms might be a bit small to some people but my family did not have a problem at all with room size. Besides you have so many things to do and see in Seattle that you will not be there except to sleep. And again the mattresses were very comfortable so you will get a great night's sleep so that you can get out and see more the next day.i will always stay here while visiting seattle!!

We really appreciate your taking the time to review our property. You covered all the great aspects of staying with us here in West Seattle. You did say that the room was a bit small, but as I mentioned in a previous reply, we do have quite a few different room types and sizes. Be sure to ask about those when booking to find out about rates and availability.
