“Not a place to stay more than a night or two!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

Recently on a family trip to Seattle we stayed at the Holiday inn Express and suites. The place was still in the process in being renovated. The rooms had been finished but the lobby was not. The rooms were clean. The internet was terrible! Half the time it didn't work and when it did it kicked you off after about ten minutes. The Breakfast wasn't very good, everything was cold and we didn't ever get anything that was hot. I understand they were busy but come on. They only had one attendant at the breakfast bar and definetely need two. That one person could not keep up it was just too much! The pool and the hot tub were fine and worked good! We used the laundry room and it worked good! The parking lot was very small and crowded! All the employees that worked there were somewhat friendly, whenever we went in and out most of them didn't bother to look up and acknowledge you. I guess that's a Seattle thing as I didn run into a very rude man on the elevator that wanted to fight! Next time I go to Seattle for some baseball games I will probable go see what else is out there to stay at!

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the top floor, that way you don't have to listen to kids run the hallways a...

We planned a roadtrip into Seattle for a Mariners-Yankees game & added an overnight stay. The Holiday Inn general telephone staff were very pleasant & helpful. Booked into the Northgate property which suited us because we were coming from Vancouver, BC... we could drop-off our bags even though rooms would not be ready at 10 am. The order desk kindly set the order for 2 quiet rooms & we were pleasantly surpised to have the quiet rooms when we returned from the game @7 pm. Traffic back from downtown Seattle is a BRUTAL 1.5 hours!!! We were greeted with the last part of the renovations to the lobby. The staff at the front desk were very pleasant & got us our rooms quickly. The rooms were GREAT! All updated & pleasant. The rooms were quiet. The pool and fitness room were pretty good but the equipment needed minor repairs.
The breakfast was very nice self-serve with a good supply of breads. The fruit selection was poor but there's plenty of bacon, sausage & ham... if you're into that. We will very likely come to stay again. The rates were comparable for Seattle. The surroundings weren't so good because Aurora is a highway but the location was conveniently close to Seattle and the I-5 is only 3 minutes away.

Room Tip: Book by phone and ask to have the quiet room... they are good about that.

I'm being nice by giving it a "poor" rating. The staff was very unfriendly. Whenever we went in and out, they never even bothered to look up from their computers or personal devices to greet us or even give us a smile in the lobby. We didn't get our priority club member box of goodies when we arrived either. The breakfast was not up to par. When they came to service the room, they threw our extra blankets on the floor and even forgot to refill the toilet paper. When we are back to the Seattle area next year, we will definitely find a better place to stay.

Pros: fairly economical, free continental breakfast that is typical of Holiday Inn Express hotels (though the replenishing of food was a little delayed due to many people in the hotel)

Cons: in a shady neighborhood, not located in the hub of Seattle (although downtown is about 20 min away), tight parking.

The building is going through construction, so the rooms are all updated, clean bathrooms. I was disappointed by the lack of friendliness by the staff.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd pick another hotel closer to the city for a few more bucks.

We recently had a booking issue at this hotel, and the hotel manager was fantastic in dealing with it. He made things right and really went above and beyond to fix the situation immediately. We would definitely stay here next time we are in the area.

This is a good Holiday Inn Express, a remodeled property in North Seattle. The Northgate shopping, dining, and entertainment area, as well as the University district, are close by. Initially I was worried about the morning and afternoon commute to/from downtown, but I-5 was surprisingly free-flowing for most of the drive to and from on all three weekdays that I drove. The hotel is a typical HIE with all the standard amenities and standard breakfast found at the hotel chain's properties. I had no problems with the stay, and my room was clean and comfortable. The only two gripes that prevent me from giving the hotel a rating of "Excellent" are these: a tiny parking area that fills to capacity some nights, a part of which only compact cars are able to fit. At least it was free of charge to park. The other issue was the horrible internet access. When it worked, it was fast, but frequently throughout the evening, every 20 minutes or so the router would redirect my browser to the log-in page - over and over and over. Once is enough for the whole stay, thank you.

Stayed here on business and it was poor to ok. They had renovations going on downstairs which wasn't such an issue. Some reviewers said it was for them. They appeared to be at the tail end of the renovations. The issue was the location. It was in a busy area with nothing desirable around it. It was very loud at night due to 99. Also the parking lot was small and the renovation truck took up a lot of spaces. Not many available. I should have stayed further north near at the HIE in Lynwood area. I will next time I go back to Shoreline.
