This place is a hidden gem behind Husky stadium in the middle of a cool neighborhood - not a hotel atmosphere - more like a retreat with 18 acres of open space - yes the buildings show signs of wear but still very comfortable, clean and I found the breakfast more than adequate . I wish I had found Talaris earlier - it is definitely the place for me to stay at when visiting my daughter at UDUb and reasonable priced .

Nature everywhere. birds and squirrels.
True to pictures ...
The hotel has some age but it is very well maintained. You will find many points of view for beautiful photos. The personal is welcoming but discreet. The service is courteous.
The rooms are clean but a little dark. breakfast is not varied. There is a lack of fresh fruit and animal protein.
You love will yours stay.

I found Talaris via TripAdvisor when faced with finding a place to stay near my son who is living off campus and attending UDub during freshman orientation. What were we thinking of?!? I was quite appreciative of their taking us in and was prepared for a facility past its time and geared for people who meet to solve the problems of the world. We arrived and were told the air conditioning was out due to the recent heat wave and a power surge - not their fault. So - how could this be better? I have to say it was great. Yes the rooms and bathrooms are dated BUT - it was so peaceful and quiet, I slept like a log. And - the real difference (as is usual) is made by the staff. They were so welcoming, helpful, apologetic and accommodating - it was better than home. Some of my reviewing colleagues need to look beyond the physical and embrace the metaphysical!

Room Tip: Can't go wrong if you want a peaceful night's sleep

Great location within walking distance to Seattle Childrens Hospital. Very quiet and peaceful. Rooms are a bit older, but very clean. Would stay again, nice value.

I have spent one week in Talaris conference center where I had attended a training inside the same center. the green environment there is wonderful. You really feel like separated from the city noise and living in a beautiful island meanwhile the street and shops are just close to you. I liked the room design very much, It took the shape of a hut while having all the advantages of modern hotels. I liked the food in the dining center and the wonderful sights in front of it specially in sunny days. The university shopping center and QFC shopping center are 10 minutes walking from the conference center where you can buy almost everything you need.

Thank you very much for your review and for being our guest. The Talaris Conference Center is not your typical urban destination - we definitely have a few unique attributes. I definitely can see how our Cascade rooms can give you that feeling of being in a little hut - I am happy you enjoyed your visit. We sure hope to see you again the next time you return to Seattle.

Thank you,

This place is long past its prime and ready for a major renovation or, better yet, complete teardown. The rooms are small, dated, and poorly furnished. Shower heads are terrible and the curtains seem to do a better job of extracting than containing water. Continental breakfast is a joke. Skip it and find a nearby restaurant. The best thing should be the park like setting but even that is a mess. Steps and walkways are in all sorts of disrepair and the wildlife is mainly crows scavenging for trash and raising a ruckus each morning.

Dear Pervagatus,
Thank you for choosing Talaris Conference Center and for your valuable feedback. We’re sorry you did not find the wildlife (crows, bald eagles, ducks, turtles, fish, and squirrels) to your liking. While we understand that Talaris Conference Center may not be your typical urban destination, we believe our history, design, facility layout, rustic ambiance and guest service make us a valuable asset to the many individuals, businesses and organizations that we serve. We are proud to offer tranquility, convenience, scenery and affordability. Our quiet 18-acre property is nestled in a calm residential area without being too far from the excitement of downtown Seattle. Property improvements are currently underway, one of which addresses a concern of yours—repairing the walkways. Additional improvements include fresh paint for our delightful Cascade room bridges. We do hope you will consider another visit with us in the future.

Thank you,
Jason Loya, Director of Operations
