“Great Location in Seattle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

This is a fun and funky hotel in a great neighborhood. Walk to the Space Needle or hop on the Monorail to the Westlake Center. The hotel staff was very accommodating and friendly. The hotel provides a free shuttle to many local attractions and David, our driver, was amazing and helpful! We reserved the Maxwell Ensemble suite and it was clean and spacious. We were on the third floor and while we had a view of the space needle, I think the best views are on the fifth floor. The free Wi-Fi is a nice benefit but it was very slow with constant dropped connections. This was not a huge issue for us as we were visiting for a weekend and we had our smartphones. The room service provided by "The Rock" restaurant was reasonably priced and very good. Be sure to have David drive you to upper Queen Anne to enjoy all the wonderful shops and restaurants.

Thank you for the great review of The Maxwell Hotel you’ve posted on TripAdvisor. We are delighted that you were able to take advantage of our shuttle to get around and see the unique shops, restaurants and all the beauty Seattle has to offer. David appreciates the kind words you shared about him for the rest of our potential guests to see!

Our apologies for the WiFi issue. This is a known issue that our IT Department is working on right now. We hope to have it solved very soon.

We look forward to your next visit.

Cheers,
Tyler

I stayed in The Maxwell Hotel Seattle for 4 nights last November from 3rd-7th with my husband. It was a great experience in Seattle and a pleasant stay at The Maxwell .
First of all the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The check in time was one hour earlier which I didn't expected at that moment. Secondly, the hotel is Earth friendly, which provides fair quality shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotion. It also provided an umbrella, one bag of popcorn, and two bottle of water each day. The best thing is FREE Parking and FREE bike rent. Walking distance to Space Needle, EMP Museum, and Pecific Science Center.
The only thing need to improve is the night table that is too small between 2 beds for share. Another thing is I would recommend a shower curtain between the shower and the bathroom.

There is no closer hotel to MacCaw Hall than the Maxwell, which is why I've stayed there several times. You can see the space needle from a view room. On the lower floors you also get a view of the parking garage for McCaw Hall, which shows just how close you are.

I love this place when I am in Seattle for a weekend of opera. The staff are helpful, the bed comfortable, and they have a Keurig coffee maker in every room. The hotel is conveniently located to several restaurants, including McMenamin's.

This boutique hotel is has a spacious lobby with a small coffee bar. The only drawback is the closet space, which is why I don't stay here if I am in Seattle for an extended period of time. The closet is open air and tiny, so it has a limit as to how much clothing you can hang,

If McCaw Hall or Seattle Center is your destination, definitely check out the Maxwell Hotel.

It seems we both share a love of our neighbor, McCaw Hall. Thank you for pointing out how close we are to their fantastic venue. We are glad to be your hotel of choice when you come to Seattle for the Opera.

We’re sorry to read that our closet space doesn’t work for you on longer stays. If you are interested in staying with us for a longer period of time, our Maestro Suite offers a full California-style closet that would fit enough clothing for a stay of several weeks. We’d be happy to show you the room if it is available on your next trip to Seattle.

Hope to see you soon!

Your friend in hospitality,
Tyler

The Maxwell Hotel has the most convenient location I’ve ever experienced. So many activities are in close proximity. The Maxwell Hotel is definitely the place to stay after that next big event at Key Arena or Seattle Center. There is so much to see and do in that area, especially this time of year with the Nutcracker at the Pacific Northwest Ballet, Teatro ZinZznni shows, events at the Key, Pacific Science Center, Chichuly Garden and Glass, Children’s Museum, Winterfest at the center, and of course the Space Needle, Monorail, EMP Museum, and the International Fountain.
We enjoyed the on-site restaurant, the fitness room and pool, the complimentary parking, complimentary Starbucks drip coffee and pineapple minicupcake, complimentary transportation within a 3-mile radius, and friendly staff.
The Maxwell Hotel is a great place for families, couples, or just you and the girls. You can even bring your pet!

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better view of the City, the Space Needle, or Queen Anne hill. Larger room...

Diane,

Thank you for such a great review. Not only do we here at The Maxwell Hotel thank you, but I would imagine most of the Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle thanks you as well. You really did a great job listing all of the outstanding aspects of this neighborhood.

We’re happy you were able to take advantage of all that Queen Anne and Seattle have to offer. We hope to see you again soon.

Cheers ,
Tyler

After staying in many average hotels that consider themselves "top of the line", the Maxwell blows them all out if the water! Nice open lobby creates inviting atmosphere and it resonates throughout the hotel. The rooms have laminate wood flooring which is a welcome site after staying in hotels with skanky carpeting everywhere. Whomever decorated the rooms should be praised - modern and tasteful! The mattress, pillows, bedding... All top notch. The Keurig coffee maker with real glass mugs is a bonus! Free bottles of water along with microwave popcorn are provided daily. Views of the space needle are available on one side of the building and Pike's Place is about a mile walk to the south and REI is about a mile north. The only problem here was the very tiny parking facility under the hotel which obviously did not have enough spaces for each guest on a busy night. Also, the "compact" spaces are better suited for motorcycles or maybe a smart car. MAYBE. If you are not able to fit into the "free" area then parking across the street in a garage adds some bucks to your stay unless you luck out with a space on the street. A small walk-up cafe is a good place to grab some breakfast. Greek yogurt parfait with cherries is yummy! ($5-$6 bucks per item) There is also a restaurant with an entrance from the lobby... Didn't have a chance to eat there, but it seemed popular! Bring warm clothes and rainwear for this time of year in Seattle if you plan on walking. The Maxwell even provides every room with a very large umbrella! Nice touches all around!

Stayed here with my pre-teen kids and disabled husband. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We arrived at 1 and they had a room ready. Even though I booked thru "getaroom.com" they had accommodated our special room request. Shuttle is quite popular.. so book ahead if you want to use it. The kids enjoyed the movie DVDs available at the front desk to borrow complementary and popcorn in the room. They thought the pool was a little small and utilitarian, but enjoyed it anyway. Room had a microwave, small fridge (clean!), keurig coffeemaker, fluffy clean towels and was clean. Good wifi access. There was a wait to get into the woodfire pizza restaurant, so they gave us a pager and we waited in the lobby where they served us a glass of wine by the fire. Parking was free but a problem that when we got back at 7pm there weren't any spaces (never mind disability spots) and there was someone without a disability pass in one of the disability spots. So be prepared to park across the street. They have a small coffee kiosk in the lobby, so for breakfast have a muffin from there (muffins were very good .. not gooey oversweet but like homebaked) or else you need to go out for breakfast.

Thank you for your review of your recent experience at The Maxwell Hotel. We appreciate you and your family’s feedback. We have a lot of families that stay with us during the course of the year. It’s wonderful to know that families enjoy our hotel and its amenities.

We’re sincerely sorry that the Disabled parking space was unavailable due to someone incorrectly parking there. We will be more vigilant on our evening security checks to ensure this is not happening. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We look forward to having you back as our guest in the not too distant future.

Yours in hospitality,
Tyler

We spent two nights at the Maxwell property in the Duet Room. It was one good experience after another. First, our flight arrived in Seattle about 8:00am we were advised previously that we might be able to have an early check-in but we weren't expecting it. In fact when we arrived at our hotel we did in fact get a 8:30 am check in! The room was beautiful. Hardwood floors were nice because because it felt clean. Carpet in hotel rooms- no matter how clean just makes me kind of cringe. The towels were very plush and the room decor was wonderful. The view was less then amazing, as we looked right into the parking lot. The rooms have DVD players so bring a movie (or you can check one out for free from the front desk)! Coffee and cupcakes are served in the afternoon/evening. The front desk staff is friendly and willing to call a taxi, offer directions, call for the comp. shuttle, and probably if asked they might rub your feet (just kidding). This hotel is located within walking distance from the Space Needle/ Pacific Science/ Glass gardens etc. The free shuttle will take you to Pike Place Market and to the Seahawks Stadium. :)
My husband and I were very delighted with this hotel and look forward to staying there in the future.

Sarah,

We’re so happy that you and your husband found us! Even more so, we’re delighted that you had such a wonderful time. But MOST of all, we’re elated that you took a few moments to share this experience with all of the TripAdvisor community. Thank you, we appreciate your review.

You did a great job detailing some of the highlights of The Maxwell Hotel that we want ALL of our guests to enjoy; cleanliness, authentic hospitality and fun amenities!

You wouldn’t want us to rub your feet! However, while we may not rub your feet, we would certainly be happy to find a licensed massage therapist that would!

We hope to see you again, soon!

Cheers,
Tyler
