“Great collection for an introduction to asian art”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

Great view, nice asian art collection and the Volunteer water tower right by. The kids got what they wanted: variety and great introduction to Asian art to children.

“Small but beautiful”

This is a small collection in a very nice deco building located in Volunteer Park. I love going just to see the ceramic pieces. Almost never any crowds

“The Asian Art Museum is located in Volunteer Park in a setting that overlooks nature with a panoramic view of Seattle.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014

The Deco building is an outstanding example of the period. The detailed entry doors welcome you into a different world. The interior simplicity featuring the Asian art exhibits with high ceilings, natural light in the atrium space, with varied intimate galleries is a quiet, calming and soothing atmosphere. Sit inside to relax a moment, or on the terraced area by the fountains. The Japanese Deco exhibit gives insight into the cultural ambience and society of Japan in the 1930's. Enjoy!

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2014

Even the building - a deco masterpiece in a beautiful setting, atop a high point overlooking Union Lake, in Volunteer Park - justifies a visit.
The quality of the permanent collection is outstanding.
We were there for an exhibition of deco works from Japan. It was astounding. The 200 or so pieces on display were collected and are owned by one person. This exhibit ends in October.
The staff are all very friendly and very knowledgeable.
