“Interesting and fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2014

It's like a mini-panama canal. The views are beautiful and you can talk with the boaters passing through. When the salmon on running, it's fun to see them climb the ladder. It's a great place for a picnic.

“Free garden walk...beautiful paths and walk over floating bridges to marsh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2014 via mobile

Highly recommend, including the Japanese Garden, the latter had a $6 admission fee and was worth it. Nice way to spend a few hours.

“A green wilderness in the heart of a city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2014

This is a gem of an urban wilderness, part of U of WA (lovingly called U-dub by Seattlites). You can stroll through trails lined with trees and flowers, and hike all the way out to the shore over a series of bridges that cross two island. For a real treat, visit early in May when a long path is filled with an abundance of azaleas on, of course, Azalea Way.

“Great hike and outdoor activity”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2014

The map for the park is not very helpful. Many of the trails aren't marked so its a mystery to see where you end up. I really enjoyed seeing what I saw, but apparently, I missed a large portion of the park. The vibrant flowers and trees is a wonderful site to view at any time of the year. I really enjoyed the hike through the woods and seeing the large array of flowers and trees.

“TREES!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

Not being from Seattle, the tree density is amazing. This arboretum struck me more like a state park than an educational and scientific collection. Yes the University of Washington does do work in the park. I was expecting unique trees and clearly identified species, even info boards with little tid bits about the trees and shrubs. There is a New Zealand section, very pretty, and more along the lines of my expectation.

Instead it feels like NYC's Central Park but with the tree density cranked way up! Great beautiful trees, epic walkways and trails, totally worth a visit to really *feel* the flora around you.

This is also not to be grouped with the Japanese Garden at one end of the Arboretum. These are different places and are not affiliated... plus the Japanese Garden has an entry cost that the Arboretum doesn't.
