“Blooms and buzzing with fun”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2009

Located in the immense Volunteer Park at 1400 E. Galer Street

The 45 acre area was designated as a park in 1878, and called City Park. It was later changed to Volunteer Park to honor those who fought in the Spanish-American War.

The conservatory opened in 1912, and includes five houses: Bromeliad, Palm, Fern, Cactus and the Seasonal Display. The houses are all connected and you can easily see the over-sized greenhouse in about an hour.

This attraction asks for donations.

“My afternoon at Volunteer Park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2008

Its a great park overlooking the city. Its a lot of wide open spaces with lots of grass. Its good place to relax for a while in the city and read a book.

There is a secret green house at the back of the park (follow the road). I walked in and found lots of Orchids and beautiful flowers. No one was around and it was very quite. See photos.
