“Convenient location, bad wifi”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012 via mobile

When checking in, the person helping us couldn't do anything with the reservation because someone else had it open. That took an extra five minutes and some frantic calling around by the person helping us. Why would the reservation be open? Additionally, the wifi was AWFUL. I could email off and on. Maybe look at the Facebook feed off and on. I tried on my laptop, iPad, and phone. Then, I thought I'd just use my phone for searching the Internet, but then I kept getting no bars! Seattle hates Verizon! Or there's some sort of vortex in the building that doesn't let any sort of Internet work.
Despite that, I would go back to stay because of the location. It's about a ten minute walk to the Westlake shopping area. Also about ten minute walk to Pike Place Market and ten minutes to the Space Needle and Chihuly Garden and Glass exhibit.

We stayed at the Hotel Five Seattle this past weekend and enjoyed our stay. The Hotel has been updated to a modern theme. It was just like new and very comfortable. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful (a big thanks to Riley.) The location was great as we could walk to the transit to take us to Safeco Field for a ball game. Also just a short walk to Pike's Market. The restaurant on site was very nice with great food and friendly staff. We would recommend this property to anyone.

We found the location of Hotel 5 to be very convenient to all attractions in Seattle. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and well maintained and there was no outside noise like other hotels we had stayed in.
Max's Cafe was well run by the girl working there and the breakfast menu was exceptional. I'd recommend the salmon benedict with truffle hollandaise (one of the best I've had).

Stayed here for 3 nights and would certainly stay here again. The decor was modern and stylish. Liked the laminate floors, which seem like an hygienic alternative to the typical, questionable, carpeted floors of most hotel rooms. Convenient location, close to everything, and felt pretty safe. WiFi was a bit inconsistent (and staff were not entirely polite when asked to help with this) but otherwise things were great!

This is a very old building at the far end of a very fashionable Avenue. A few blocks away on the same Avenue are some very expensive hotels and shops but right next door of this hotel are a few not so elegant hotels.

Our room was bright, modern style furniture and almost over the top with colorful paint. Any more colors and you would think you were spending the night in a children's nursery.

I did like the #5 that was painted every place - they really do know how to carry a theme to extreme.

The sheets were a little strange. Maybe Mirco-fiber or something, not sure but they did not have the cotton feel that we were use to.

Room Tip: Pick a room on the backside way from the main road and trains

First of all, the location is great as long as you don't mind walking--we walked to the convention center in about 15 minutes, to the Space Needle in about 10, to the water front in about 15. Of course, there are hills, so keep that in mind too. There are lots of little cafes and a couple of very close restaurants...very nice.
The room is super clean, the bed comfortable (though if you move a lot, you will hear it squeak a bit). The bathroom of the deluxe queen room had a very nice shower. However, the lighting was poor. A night light would have been greatly appreciated it.
The odd numbered rooms are just across from the monorail and on a busy street. If you are disturbed by noise, this is not the place for you. We were lucky in that our hall was pretty quiet, but you could hear people moving and doors opening. Again, this is not a hotel for anyone who needs absolute silence. The towels were adequate and fairly fluffy. Instead of the usual soaps, there were dispensers mounted on the walls. The liquid soap was much too perfumed and flowery (maybe even reminiscent of bubble gum) for me--and I think a man might have found it objectionable. But it is a question of personal preference.
For the money, however, the place represents a great value and offers a bit of pizazz that would normally be lacking in a comparable standard issue Hyatt House or Homestead Inn. The room has a keurig coffee machine with an assortment of tea and coffee--very handy! And if you are partial to your own tea, it would have been easy to bring it along and make it.
Also, for people with allergies, there was no carpeting and no fabric drapes. A total plus.
With similar price constraints, I would definitely stay again.

We stayed at the hotel sept 7 8, 2012. The rooms were magnificent, the staff was so friendly and we certainly stay there again and again when we come to Seattle. The restaurant at the hotel is exceptional and I highly recommend the Thai french toast. YUM!
