I've lived in the area all my life and visited Seattle often, yet this was the first time up the Space Needle. I was a little taken aback at the price of $18 each for me and my teenagers, however, it was a beautiful night and the moon was absolutely amazing from up above the city like that! We didn't go to the restaurant there as we heard it was expensive and not necessarily amazing. However, a lot of people did opt to eat at the Observatory level where there were many affordable meal-type choices, like salmon, chowder in a bread bowl, even specialty coffees and wine and other tasty adult drinks! We did not know we could order food elsewhere besides the restaurant, or we would have ditched the horrible hotel restaurant we ate it and eaten up there. Prices were decent. With your admission, you get a complimentary digital photo taken as you enter (group or individual) and you choose 1 of 5 or 6 Seattle-themed backgrounds. Then, from the Space Needle, you could go to one of several computers, scan your barcode to retrieve your picture, and email it right there and then to up to 5 people! That was pretty cool. Definitely bring a sweater even if it's a nice evening because it can be windy way up there! My sister and I agreed it would be a VERY romantic place to bring a date .... wasn't so romantic with the 2 of us and our kids though! Don't know if I'd spend the money to go again but you definitely have to go there once in your lifetime! Be a tourist in your own town if you live close by!
