“The Hostel in Seattle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

This place is one of the nicest hostels I've ever stayed in. Prime location, we went to the market every morning, the original Starbucks is around the corner and lots of cute restaurants and bars. Went on the free pub crawl and free market tour, did I mention free!!! We were lucky that one of the nights there was a free dinner, and it was a million times better then I expected, delicious! The kitchen was also open for use in the mornings and had pancake batter to make your own pancakes! I liked the rooms with the pod beds, great for added privacy. Great service from staff, they were super helpful with directions and things to do. Have recommended to all my friends and now to all of you!

Great location as it is located just opposite famous Pike Place Market. Very near to the bus transit area on 3rd and 4th avenue. Within walking distance to most of the attractions in Seattle. Huge locker under the bed provided as well. However, the wifi only available at common area. It should make available in the rooms as well. They do provide breakfast, but they just provide all the raw ingredient and you need to make your own breakfast.

This is what other hostels should strive to grow up to be like. The place was obviously designed by people who have actually spent time in hostels.

LOVED - the curtains around the bunks (get a lower bunk for best results); the fan and light at each bunk; the large storage lockers for my gear; the free breakfasts; the free dinners (be sure to line up early as they did run out at the end); the large common room where it was always possible to get a seat; the friendly travelers; the location; the toilets and showers.

DISLIKED - no wifi in rooms (but possible to access a local businesses depending on your room location); front desk staff gave me incorrect directions and could have been friendlier; rooms can get hot; storage for food (fridge and shelves) is limited.

There is a smoking room/area off of the common room. I never went in there, but I never smelled any type of cigarette or other smoke, and I'm sensitive to it. As for other comments about drugs, I never saw anyone who seemed inebriated in any way.

I can't recommend this hostel any higher. This will definitely be where I will stay if I ever get the chance to go back to Seattle.

Admittedly its offseason & not as packed as it could be, but this place has impressed me. Tuesday was taco night, a free meal provided by the hostel. It was one of the best taco dinners I've had. Veg options too. Today I did a food tour offered through the hostel. It lasted for 5 hours walking to all these cool eateries & sharing plates. Salami, lamb sandwich heaven, chocolate tasting, mac & cheese triangles. It was heaven. And all for $20, My room has been great. Comfy mattress, little curtains for privacy, power outlets at each bed. Large own locker each. Bathrooms on L1 are beautiful. Breakfast was amazing too, pancakes, toast, fruit coffee. I am pleasantly surprised. Right across to Pike Markets too. Some bums out the front, but they've been pretty harmless thus far

Room Tip: Avoid over the common room. A couple said they could hear music till 3am

I only stayed here for one night and I was happy. Its not everyone cup of tea because it is in a busy part of downtown right next to public market. Breakfast was good. Staff are super friendly and informative. I'm not sure what happens but I lift to get some dinner and came back to the room smelling like smoke. Overall, I was happy to only stay here for one night because of the location and they have some free fun activities.

Room Tip: Rooms are very good with larger locators to fit an travelling backpack. Own power outlet and private...

The Location was really good, close to public transport, but also to the market and a lot of restaurants, etc.

The people were super nice and helped us booking our bus to vancouver (with a super cheap company!! Thanks for that!). The breakfast was a good mixture between diyo and buffet and we even got dinner once for free!

The free walking tours were great! especially the one with the market.

The rooms were okay, a bit hot, but every bed has its own fan - which is really loud. And mini curtains, which was very convenient!

The bathroom was not the super cleanest, but i guess this is the problem of the other guests.

I guess I would stay here again!

I'm a details guy, so I hope they help you.

This is really a great hostel. It's clean, friendly, active and in a great location.
- 3 blocks from University Light Rail stop
- 1 block from Pike's Place market
- Separate bathroom / showers
- Towel Rental $1.
- Clean sheets are included.
- Make your own pancakes/eggs/toast is available every morning with fruit.
- Free dinner twice a week.
- Free tours / events throughout the week.

Overall the place was well worth going to for a fraction of the cost of a hotel in the same area. If you enjoy the adventure and meeting new people - this is a great place.
