“Great Variety and amazing wood fired pizza”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Can't beat the balance savory hamburgers and pizza as well as unique and tasty breakfast options such as skillet style pulled pork enchiladas.

“Quality food. Very tasty!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

We had the lamburgers and the summer pizza. Really nice flavorful quality food. The brown ale was great, too. We didn't try the cocktails, but they looked wonderful.

“Terrific for Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

The reviews were mixed - but I can only guess that people don't like waiting. We went on a Monday for breakfast - no wait. The staff were really welcoming and helpful and the breakfast choices and quality were terrific. I almost never eat the potatoes that come with breakfasts and I couldn't stop eating their wonderful crispy smashed potatoes - they were so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. There are a number of breakfast specials for under $6.00 so the value is wonderful as well. The dinner menu sounded great - can't wait to go back and check it out.

“Good beers and food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

Good sort of gastro-pub style setting and execution. Their beer list is not super-extensive, but they have a nice selection of local taps. I had the Spring Pizza, a concoction of walnuts and garlic which was very good. We shared a grilled asparagus starter, salad and soup. The evening was warm and they open their large doors connecting the inside space with outside seating so it was very nice.

“3 Strikes”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

I have eaten at Hi Life both for breakfast and lunch and been very disappointed. I really wanted to give it a chance so decided to try it one more time. I think this time was the worst. The restaurant was fairly empty yet the service was slow. The food was sub par. I had a Reuben. The pastrami or corned beef--don't remember which--was unrecognizable and tough. I could barely taste the dressing. The bread was too soft. I just picked at it. The fries were limp and came with a tiny paper cup of ketchup ala McDonald's. My friend ordered a portabella mushroom sandwich which lacked flavor. Both were overpriced at about $12 each. On a positive note our server was very friendly. I will never eat here again and discourage others from doing so. There are so many good restaurants to choose from in Ballard. I am surprised this restaurant is still in business.
